Don't know if this has been said before, but I think it is a good idea. So here goes.
Only one city on the Flurry server seems to have all the entertainers packed in one little cantina, and its a static city; Coronet. The rest of the cities in the galaxy are completely bare. And I'm sure that the rest of the servers are the exact same way.
My idea is to make it to where entertainers, dancers, and musicians have to move to other cities to perform. So make the cantinas have a Number cap to how many entertainers/dancers/musicians can holdin acertain cantina.Like only 20 entertainers are alowed to perform in a said cantina. That would disperse and require other entertainers to find other spots to perform.
To cut down on the confusion to how many entertainers are in a cantina have a data terminal placed in each cantina to show how many entertainers are in the cantina and how many more it can allow. So that the person looking for a group doesnt have to count heads.
Also to keep intrest in player city cantinas, give bonus xp to performers who perform in player cities.
AFK'ers:
To keep the group lively and the same music being played. And to cut down on the afk macroing, make it to where the system automatically stops them from there macro after an hour of being afk. This would make it to where others can join in the cantina and work on entertainer skills. Also It would force the afk macro'er to check to see whether he has been replaced or if he is even still playing. Adding a bit of effort to the profession.
Another idea is to lower the xp given to an AFK macro'er. Making them have to check back every 10-30 mins to check to see if they are still getting experience. (although I think this seems a bit harsh)

Let me know what you guys think. I was a master entertainer so I've been through the struggle, so before you flame me its just a matter of opinions and ideas.

You have a few good ideas and a few bad ideas. Killing macros after a period of time is probably the best; make it independent of the AFK tag though and just do it every hour on the hour or something. Don't stop skill animating, just stop the macro that actually gives the guy XP.
As for capping the entertainers/cantina, no. Too big a hole for griefing.

Right now, you get greater xp if you are in a large group.
However, it does not matter currently if your group is alone in the cantina or just one of many groups.
Entertainers in the Coronet cantina are stepping on top of and through each other constantly.
To enocourage entertainers to be in less popular cantinas trink about the following idea.
If you dancing are in a cantina and noother dancer, whether they are in your group or not,is within 15 m of you, you get triple dancer and healing xp.
If you dancing are in a cantina and noother dancer is within 10 m of you, you getdouble dancer and healing xp.
If you dancing are in a cantina and noother dancer is within 5 m of you, you getnormal dancer and healing xp.
If you dancing are in a cantina andanother dancer is within 5 m of you, youget half of the normal dancer and healing xp.
If you dancing are in a cantina andanother dancer is within 2.5 m of you, yougeta quarterof the normal dancer and healing xp.
A dancer would not negatively affect amusician and vice-versa.
In fact, a musician playing close toa dancershould add to the xp that a dancer gets.
