The Devs have had a lot of suggestions asking for more music in the game, and they say they're working on it, but they seem to not be able to find a lot of specific ways to do this.

I have listened to the file of the ingame music, and there is some INCREDIBLE, WONDERFUL music in this game, but we never hear any of it!

Here is one, simple way we can start hearing more of it right away.

Allow owners of player houses to go to the admin terminal on their house, and select a background music for inside their house.

Allow mayors of player cities, to go to the city management terminal and set an ambient music for the city, that would be hearable inside the city hall, as well as outdoors in that city's limits.

How this would work:

  • Any player entering the house or city, will hear the music that house's owner, or city'a mayor has set.

  • Allow players who don't want to hear ambient music, an option in their control panel to turn it off (to prevent griefing other players with annoying music)

  • Give every player house a set of "standard" music selections, that every house gets.

  • Give certain structures, such as player cantinas, faction HQs, player hospitals, city halls, and guild halls, unique selections of music, that would only be available in those structures.

  • Whatever background music the mayor sets for the City Hall, would play inside that building, and for anyone that is outdoors inside that city's limits.

  • Restrict certain music types, to certain planets, for instance, only allow Tatooine Desert Background Music to be set for cities and structures on Tatooine.

  • Allow Musicians, and Entertainers to craft "recording disks" of extra music types, notavailable by default, that could be dragged onto a house management terminal or city management terminal and "dropped" to change the music (these would be one time use only, so if you wanted to change the music again, you'd have to go buy another disk). This would create some income for entertainers and musicians.

  • Add some RARE music disks as droppable loot. These would be something cool players would want, that wouldn't screw up the whole crafting economy.

This would add so much more flavor and customizeability to player cities and houses!

Imagine, an Imperial player city, with a soft, imperial march, playing as background music.

A rebel city could have some Jedi music, or something like that (can't think of a rebellion theme offhand, can anyone?).

Or, if a player city were to host a special event, the music could be changed to match that event of the day, then when the event is over, changed back.

i think this would be a wonderful idea! the idea of haviing some variety in our music would be awesome! so many times i will go into my city or in my house and wish i had the chance to add some music to my cleaning house or know that i was actually in town! if this could be implemented that would be great!
