Ok, so all I have is Novice Entertainer, and I've done all of the helper droid quests. I tried dancing and playing music, and doing flourishes (since that's the only way I can get experience, by doing flourishes). However, I've noticed that for each flourish when dancing, you get 4 experience, then 3, then 2, then 1, but for playing music, I got 2 experience, then 1. Is getting musicianship experience supposed to be twice as hard/long as dancing experience? Thanks for any help

To get max XP in either prof, you want to flourish twice every ten seconds. I wasn't aware of a difference between music and dancer XP rates -- are you playing your highest level song and/or using your highest level instrument? When you're trying to gain XP, you want to use your highest level instrument.

Yeah, I did it with double flourishes, i.e. /flo /flo /pause 10
Some people do /flo /pause 5 /flo
I'm not sure if there's a difference now, to be honest. The first way used to give higher XP, but I haven't gained music XP in many months.

Also with each new dance you get better XP. For musicians, the higher the song or the instrument you get certified will help the XP there. Also try to get into a large group. Not only is it fun....but the XP bonuses are wonderful.
Have fun

What you're seeing with the declining amount of experience is what we call the decay rate for entertainer XP.If you flourish with dance once or music twice on a "tick"(the time that it takes for the system to once again award XP, about 8 seconds), you'll receive the highest amount of XP for the song/dance you're performing, and on subsequent ticks you'll also receive a diminshing return off of that initial flourish. Flourishing again on the next tick resets this diminishing return counter each time.
So, for the highest experience awards, flourish once per tick for dancing, twice per tick for music - using your highest (the latest one you've learned though your skill progressions)available dance or highest instrument or song for music.

It's sort of a dual edge sword. If you flourish a lot, you get more exp faster, but then you get tired
If you flourish once, then wait a while before flourishing again, you get slower exp gain, but then you don't get tired as fast...depends which is more important to you. At a higher experience level, flourishing once a minute still gives you a decent amount of exp per flourish and keeps you from running out of action if you aren't buffed or getting healed by someone.

And musicians that do that make me want to run screaming.

I never even need heals anymore.
That's only possible for humans and maybe Rodians. Humans have bugged stats that can go much higher than anyone else, so can stat migrate any cost of actions down to negligible. Rodians just have really good stamina.

Not necessarily a problem.

Try again with a slitherhorn then come back and see if you're saying the same thing.
It is the higher of your song or instrument that matters. Has everyone forgotten musicianship II when playing sw2 gave better xp than playing rock, but no new instrument was available?
