Thread: Portable radio

I really have a hard time sitting for 15 mins waiting to get mind buffed. In my opinion entertainers should be able to craft thier own buff to sell. Call it a portable radio, mind stim or what ever. Would not even bother me if it took 10 min for the full effect of buffs to kick in. This seems to be far more effective for the entertainers.

But thats just my idea.

Take care folks.

Buffs rarely take 15 minutes, if they are then you need to let the Entertainer know they could use a brush up on their skills.

With flourishes every 5 seconds, it'd take around 6 minutes to get a full buff.

With 5 flourishes every 10 seconds, it takes about 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

If you're referring to waiting for an Entertainer to get done buffing other people, well, there's lines for Doctor buffs sometimes, too.

I waver between considering portable mindbuffs and hating the idea. I could see it being used to heal Battle Fatigue in a pinch, but buffs? Nope, I think keeping the center of entertainment in cantinas is a good thing. I've met a lot of great people in there, whereas I wouldn't have if I just sold some random mind buffing options on a vendor.

If something like this, like a portable mind buff, gets into the game, no one will ever set foot in another cantina. They just won't, and cantinas were very much a part of Star Wars.

I understand your frustrations, but perhaps you should reconsider how much of a chore getting a mind buff really is.

As a final note, I'll say that I've never, ever seen a single idea (no matter how stellar it was) end up in the game that was suggested in the Entertainer forums, which is extremely sad. In all honesty, we Entertainer don't get anything new in the game. So it's best you not get your hopes up on this, just to let ya know.

Out of curiosity, where are you getting your mind buffs where you have to wait 15 minutes for them? A live entertainer can complete one in just over 3 minutes if done right. Even if you were 4th in line (assuming that they didn't just have you join the group) it wouldn't take that long.

Help us help you.

And an entertainer can buff up to 19 people simultaniously... so even if you're 76th in line...

I am not saying this out of hate for entertainers, it just seems to me that a stim that can only be used in cantina would better serve the entertainer community. Right now i go to the afk guy outside theed on my server to get buffed when our guild entertainers are not on. Seems a little wrong to be able to buff minds while afk, my wait by the time buffs are done is about 15 mins. not cause it takes 15 mins to buff but because of starts and stops and getting in group ussually.

It also seems a little off to not have to use or really do anything to buff the mind. And i think if you had a way to buff mind other than watching it would pump a little extra income into to entertainer prof. just an idea but yeah i know what ya mean devs never seem to comment on posts or ideas. never even seem to put much input lately into game upgrades and concepts.

I myself like playing the game but it could be so much more than it is.

A small secret - most players don't bother looking for a live entertainer buffing. If you find one you can probably arrange to get buffs in 3 minutes, no waiting. If you are really nice to them they may travel to where you are.

Maryja,

How does an ent'r buff up to 19 people at once?

I'll jump in to answer this...

Passive group buff. And actually, we can buf 20 people at once. 19 people grouped with us, and 1 outside the group on a /setperform.

What's a passive group buff? Is this what buffbots use? How is it used?

I'm on a Mexican woah-woah radio!

Buff radios would probably kill the need for entertainers would it? If you want a jukebox listen to the buffbots lol

It's the buffing style that buffbots exploit to function, yes.

In short, anyone who is grouped with you need only watch you dance, or listen to you play to get the buff. No extra command is needed, no targeting, nothing. Just flourish the same way you would with an "active" (/setperform) buff, and everyone watching in your group gets buffed.

So... you can be in a group with 19 other players, buffing them passively (no targeted command needed), while actively (using /setperform)buffing a 20th person outside of the group. 20 buffs in the same 3:10 performance time.

Ah! That's your problem right there. It may take some initial effort on your part, but the more entertainers you know, the better off you will be. Live entertainers can group you and buff you and send you on your way in 3.5 minutes flat. And, it's extremely rare to find an entertainer buffing who's at their max group capacity, so you're almost always gauranteed an "in" with your friends.

I'm not even kidding you. Ever since the /ent chat popped up on Kettemoor, I have never once gone without a mind buff whenever I wanted one. Never. And, I don't ever use buffbots. These buffs that I'm not lacking? All due to real live entertainers. I'm an entertainer myself so I hang out on that channel and will often "answer the call" to buff. But, I'm also a combat player, a TKM, who really values a good mind buff since our specials all make heavy use of the mind. And, I'm serious, I *always* *always* get a mind buff from live players. The key is to get to know them.

Ah! I get it! Same thing we used to do in CoH. Group - target one person for action. But in this case, buffs.

Gotcha!

Thanks
