The problem is, it's the player base that's making the buffs a necessity. The fact that many folks feel entitled to go off and solo krayts, nightsisters, the corvette, and other content that was never intendedfor players to solo. These are the folks who insist that buffs are a necesity, and they simply cannot advance in the game without them.
Granted, for PVP and high end encounters, it's the buffs that make the difference.
Although, I make a LOT of credits when I buff, I don't see flocks of people becoming entertainers simply for the credits. It doesn't matter how good the income, some people just aren't meant to sit in one spot and be social. That gameplay style is simply unfathomable. We may see SOME folks who decide to try the life of an Entertainer for the eventual payout, but I think in the end it will still only be those who actually enjoy the professions who keep at it.
And if/when they fix the register feature, players SHOULD be able to use that to see who is buffing. In the meantime, we're stuck advertising.

The Doc buffer with their Music/Dance Buffing alt.
"Get in line 25k for all stats buffed. 75k if you want to skip ahead in line."
Yeah I could see it happening. And really all we need on each server is a few people to start doing this at Cor, Theed and what ever adventure planet is hot at the time. But ya know it's better then total afk in my book still.

We'll get our professions back as soon as Publish 10 goes live. I hope that the devs wait on pulling the ever so helpful recursive macro and see if ending the holo grind is enough to fix it. One thing is for sure though, the Dancer/Musician alts that other players have created are not just going to just simplyvanish. The players that setup these afk macros are very resourceful and I think that the devs have to be aware of this. Removing Recursive Macros (that could be used afk) does not really solve the problem, it just covers it up or makes it more difficult to work around.
"However, once buffbots poof, the demand is still going to be there. " <--- I find this statement sorta funny because the demand was there all along, THAT is why the afk buffbots were created. People simply couldn't find dancers and musicians at the keyboard or even in the cantina during off peak hours. After reading the tons of posts in the "Recursive Macros are going away" post by thunderheart it's clear the there was a shortage and that the afk buffbots were created to counter that shortage. I think it's safe to say the player base over compensated by creating far too many of them.

Well, things are finally starting to look up.
AFK macros are (hopefully) being pulled.
We're getting new content in the forum of new instruments/music/dances.
We just might get our profession back.
However, once buffbots poof, the demand is still going to be there. Those adventurers are going to need buffs, and their wallets are fat with money. It's not going to take long for people to see a new source of income.
Buffbots may be replaced by Doc Bots.
Folks who grind up the tree solely for the chance to buff other people constantly for profit. Much like Doctors set up buff lines outside the starport now, Doc Bots will set up lines within the cantina.
"107% ent buffs 5k bank tip to get in line!" might just replace the "You have 30 seconds to invite me" spam within the cantina environment.
I'm just saying that taking out recursive macros won't solve the problem on it's own. It'll just replace one evil with another. The groups up front may dissipate for a few days, but will likely become clogged with buff lines once again. Same scenario with one difference: the buffbots are ATK now. However, the same principles for which we loathe the buffbots still remains--our profession has once again been degraded to a provider of buffs--a mechanic of the cantina.
Is there a way to avoid this?
None that I can see. We can only wait and hope the buff revamp in the CB clears up this mess for us. Make entertainer buffs a perk, not a necessity.

Ents can be difficult to locate. That's why many of us are promoting the Live Entertainment chat channels on many servers. However, if the Devs, in their infinite wisdom, feel there is a shortage of Entertainers, perhaps they should address the cause. Lack of content, lack of communication, lack of anything to do in Aurilia for FS, lack of a means of profitother than these so precious buffs.
Make the Devs give us a reason to be an Entertainer other than just performing, and you will see more real entertainers come back.

You guys are mistaken if you think AFK entertaining is being "pulled". All that is being done is recursive macros are being looked at and possibly removed. The ability to make an NPC entertainer will still exist with the in game macro system.
As long as entertainer enhancements and healing are left in the current passive form NPC entertainers will be there.

I welcome living buffers. Themy main reason fordisliking the AFKers, is to make sure our time, the only resource we use, is worth something. After that, then its up to the customer to choose what he wants from an entertainer. Boring buff factory (and maybe faster)or a fun entertaining party while they are buffed. Thats the way I'd like it to be, I want people to choose me as their favorite entertainer because I am the most entertaining. I have no problem buffing while I entertain either, that makes it even better.

Sorry hologrinding isn't dissappearing, itspurpose is moving. Now instead of having to grind through every profession the grinders will find the professions easiest to automate. Those skill points are traded in for FS points and guess what professions are easiest to automate.
