Thread: AFK! not just entertainers....

I was thinking about the meaning of AFK and essentially to me it means not putting effort into what you are doing and having a machine do it for you. At dinner it dawned on me that our whole world is becoming more afk by the day. If you call a major company all you get is an afk macro that directs you around until you can finnally get an atk person who doesn't know what they are doing. I see this happening more and more as machines and computers become more self-sufficient and able to do things that would normaly require constant attention by the people operating the machine. Is essence our world is becoming a bunch of afkers with machines doing all the work day by day. Soon real atk people doing their jobs will be as hard to find as atk entertainers in SWG

Isn't it frustrating when you have a simple problem that can be taken care of by a live person, and you can't get out of the automated loop?

A business will automate a task to save money and optimize production, thats perfectly understandable from a purely business point of view. It seriously impacts our economy by increasing the gulf between rich and poor.
It shouldn't apply to a game, the whole point of a game is to provide entertainment. I can't remember the last time I sentsomeone else to themovies to watch for me, I just didn't find that very entertaining.

Is that a completely BAD thing? Some jobsare soextreme only a machine can do the job effecently, especially the most dangerous ones.
Some jobs like such as art and music MUST have human interaction.
God I hope they fixyalls profession so darn good we never have to see posts like this in one of the most easiest professions to master in the game.
