Thread: Reviewing entertainer issues (Limited time offer, act now while supplies last)

It is my feeling that there has not been enough change in the entertainer profession (yet) that the list of issues has changed, so I won't be spending a lot of time collecting feedback unless enough people speak up saying otherwise.

Just for a refresher, a quick summary of the last set of issues submitted:

  1. Unattended gameplay
  2. Entertainers need more content
  3. Entertainer missions are confusing and not worth the time
  4. Master entertainer has nothing for image designers and little for dancers
  5. Planetary registration is useless due to bugs

So, is everyone still happy with this list? For reference, here is the voting thread that list was based off of.

The only thing I miss on this list is lack of [public] dev communication, which would include some statements on their vision of the entertainer profession's future. But I'm not really sure if this should be put onto the top 5 list of issues.

So the old list is still perfectly valid, not that anything from was addressed lately. (And with the current lack of communication from the devs I refuse too accept the new quests as new content until they are pushed to live and are working there.)

Those are good... I like Bug Fixes to be high on the list but some how I just think it's wrong that bug fixes should even have to go on a list like this. As well as...

Any Dev feedback. What was our role when the game was started ? What did they view as our part ? When did it change ? Why did it change ? and What is our freakin role now ?

Many players(and a few corrs) resent us/hate us being in the game and asking for anything at all. Others just tolerate us and I lay the blame for that directly at the devs feet.

I feel compelled to point out that planetary registration is acheived at Novice Musician and Dancer and possibly shouldn't, therefore, be on the list?

I think Entertainers should get +5 Fatigue Healing (Music) and +5 Fatigue Healing (Dance) out of the Master Musician and Dancer boxes (similary to how Novice Medics get +5 Wound Treatment, then don't see any again until Novice Doctor. Just a thought for something to include that's an Entertainer issue, vs. something that's kinda more in the realm of the two elite performing professions.

Fatigue healing is as much an entertainer thing as planetary registration is. You don't get a bonus to fatigue healing until novice musician and dancer. In truth, there are very few issues which are true entertainer issues. Most belong to the elite professions. It is just how the base professions are. So I try to stick to issues that are either true entertainer issues (Like master entertainer stuff) or effect multiple elite professions (Like planetary registration).

Without knowledge of the design visionfor the entertainer professions held by the developers, we have no framework within which to determine whether or not any of our issues, requests or suggestions are valid.

**Cough** wrong place for this post **cough**

Shouldnt entertainers be able to heal BF in a camp if they are so skilled enough to participate in a battle? Wouldnt that be useful.

True, we don't get a visible bonus to it...but when we play or dance as a Novice Entertainer, it does heal faster than the Cantina's Heal Over Time rate, so there's something in there. I just think we should get a token amount in Novice Entertainer so that we can use racial bonuses and skill tapes for it without having to wait 'til Novice Musician or Dancer. Heck...even +1 in each of Novice Entertainer and the Entertainment Healing boxes?

The list looks pretty good to me.

Perhaps Master Entertainers shouldhave theRegister Location ability.

Deny Service needs to be on there as well. We have no idea if the denial of service is permanent or even working. I've noticed that most players wait until after they've been healed before they start to abuse or grief the entertainers so if the deny service command is temporary it's utterly useless.

- all races need some way to get ID exp on themselves in Novice Entertainer (wookiees and others have no self ability until eye color at ID2 which makes life awfully tough for them starting out)

it is still a valid list, and in addition I'd add the part about all races need some ID'able item at Novice Entertainer.

A possible solution to items 2, 3 and 4 (and in a sense 1) is described in my 'breathing life' post ( http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=entertainer&message.id=12838. The sort of depth and variety that the other classes currently enjoy can be extended in some degree to these classes; and potentially in a fashion that embelishes everyone's gameplay experience by introducing new forms of socialisation.

The main basis of my proposal is to re-dress rathern than replace or rewrite existing systems. I tried to keep the original idea lean, but its very easy to see fanciful ways in which it might be extended.
