To all entertainers I beg of you:

Don't do the "Invite me if I'm not in a group" thing in your AFK macro.

I don't mind the AFK, or the Macro, and I'm even tolerant of the begging for tips from those who aren't even playing the game. But this just drives me nuts. You're asking for something that you might already have. I solemnly swear right now that I will never ever invite anyone who has "invite me" as part of their macro. It's the most annoying spam I see in cantinas, especially considering how simple it is to not be annoying.

Here are some options:

1) Log in, get in an Ent group by asking normally like everyone else, then start your music/dance macro. Voila! For the meager price of taking a minute or so to get in a group on your own, you are sparing everyone some unwanted spam. I know, groups disband eventually, but Ent groups can go on for quite a while, and unless you're going AFK for weeks at a time without checking your computer ever, you're pretty safe when it comes to groups.

2) If you really feel the need to assure your place in a group at all times, make the spam pause LONGER. I know what you're thinking. "But, wait! My macro is only 15 seconds long, how can Imy spam delay longer withough extending my dance/music macro?" Well, you're in luck! I'll TELL you what to do, for FREE!

Step 1: Take the "Invite me if I'm not in a grp plz!; /join;" part out of your entertaining macro.

Step 2: Make a new macro entitled "stupidannoyinginvitespam" Write this in the macro: "Please invite me to your entertainer group if I'm not in one already, please!; /pause 15; /join; /pause 300; /macro stupidannoyinginvitespam;"

Now, run BOTH macros! What do you get? You do your normal little dance routine or whatever, and you'll ask to be invited a bearable every five minutes. Everyone's happy! YAY!

That's only a 5-minute pause. I'd suggest /pause 1800 for a half hour pause.

Actually, I'd suggest no freaking spam, but these people don't care about being jerks, so maybe asking for 1800 is better.

Wait. I totally forgot that we're talking about insensitive jerks who feel that they are the only ones playing the game and don't give a rat's ass about the feelings of other Entertainers, patrons, and passersby. They only want their mad XP and will do any unethical thing in order to get it, including spamming every 30 seconds.

So, your post holds merit, but it is going to fall on deaf ears. Spammers don't care. They simply don't. You can beg and plead, but they don't care about your feelings. They only care about their crazy XP.

One way to get them back for their annoyance is to invite two of them and then make one a leader and leave the group. You have twoin a group, so they're not getting the outrageous XP (what does it matter anyway? It's free XP). And no one can invite them.

And you can also /bandflo so their Action goes down faster. Not like it'll do much, but it might make you feel a little better.

There's also /addignore, but get a little revenge before you're forced to increase your list.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Oh, what about the ones who spam their appology for spamming? Let's get them to macro that one for 300 seconds too!

About nine months ago, a poor disenfranchised young man quietly sidled his way into the local Fred Meyers electronics department in search of a ground breaking game to take the foul taste of a horrible massively multiplayer online role playing game experience from his mouth. While perusing the wall of pc games a thick black box with a shiny logo caught his eye. Being an avid gamer and an aspiring video game developer, he always kept up on the latest reviews and gossip of upcoming and newly released games. Because of this, he instantly recognized the box and inspite of it, picked up the box and began looking it over. What he saw intrigued him, even excited him. "Wow, I could be a wookie jedi!" he quietly exclaimed to himself. Fully convincedand full of excited plansby now, he marched over to the counter and purchased a game which had only gotten moderate reviews. Breaking speed limits, this young man races home to install and experience what looks so promising. He rips open the packaging only to be greeted and awed by the three discs needed to install the game. "The reviews can't be very accurate! This game takes so three discs to install!" he thinks ashe pops in two of the three discs to expedite the installation. Impatiently he waits for what seems like forever before the installation finally finishes. One quick reboot and a hurried double click on a desktop icon and so begins a long tenure in the world of Star Wars Galaxies.

That young man, was me.

From the moment I saw even character creation, I thought SWG was one of the coolest games I had played yet. So many options, so many choices to make. How could anyone ever get bored? I began my first character on Ahazi. He was a skinny, bright blue eyed wookie destined to be a ranger. Man, how I wanted to be a ranger. For a month I played in the novice professions, always bringing scout up some, before I managed to master scout. At that time, people were generally helpful. All I did was ask if anyone needed training in scout and someone with excess scouting xp filled me up to 620 apprentice xp. I was incredibly excited! All I had to do now was find a ranger trainer which I promptly did with the help of the ranger forums. Off to my first dissappointment I was. I hunted and I trapped and I sat in my camps in an effort to reach master ranger. Only with every skill box I gained, I realised more and more, there was nothing different about ranger from scout. Still, camoflauge packs had just been patched in so I kept my hopes up. Three quarters of the way through, I finally had enough. I was getting incredibly bored being a not so super scout and nothing was on the horizen to change it (still hasn't changed). It was then I gave it up and started a new character on another server. This character I decided to become the ultimate ass kicker. Who better for that than a commando? So, onto bloodfin I stormed to become my definition of a combat medic; a commando with master medic. Still, this entire time, no one knew how to become a jedi which is what I really wanted to be when I purchased the game. Shortly before I reached master commando, the path was revealed. Oh, how terribly disappointed I was to discover I had to grind professions to become a jedi. I even sent my only pm to a dev ever when I learned the path. Knowing now, I would never be a jedi, I decided to concentrate on the rest of the game. So, three months after storming Bloodfin, I mastered Commando. I was totally jazzed. Combat was my thing and I was proud of my Master Commando tag. Medic however had begun to annoy me. All my time was going to collecting resources and crafting stims. There was almost no time left for combat! It was then I discovered Smuggler. "Wow, what a cool profession!" I thought, "And look what I could do with my launcher pistol!" So off the smuggler path I went dropping medic along the way. Who needs to heal themselves when you can feign death after all! About two months ago, I mastered smuggler. I had already fallen head over heals for this profession though so mastering was only a cherry on an ice cream sunday for me. What an incredible community! So helpful and yet so scoundrel like. It is the most unique profession in the game hands down. Commando however, had begun to sour. One weapon was viable and getting repetative to use. No dev responses to the many issues commandos have. Instead, the one trick pony got neutered. I still love the commando profession and would go back to it as my second master with smuggler but it still hasn't changed which is my third major disappointment. At that point, for lack of anything else to do, I decided to begin holo grinding. Master Commando went out the window and I have since made it to my third holocron. Always however, I have kept my master smuggler tag and have refused to give it up for my love of this profession.Happy to be the slice monkey for a while, I always kept my hopes up to be able to smuggle for players. As all are aware, player smuggler will not be happening which is my fourth major disappointment. Still, I maintained my hope by constantly telling myself, "The revamp is coming." Now that time is here.

With the recint hint at what our revamp will entail, I have been left with a horrid sense of dread. Very little of what was hinted has a use I can see. It's like no effort has been put into it at all. I know the devs can do a hell of a job though! Look at the chef revamp! Look at the droid engineer revamp! They did an incredible job on those! Why does it seem now like little effort has been made? I know I am only one player but a man can only take so many hopes being broken before he must move on. I beg of the developers, don't put little effort into the smuggler revamp! Put just as much effort into us as you put into chefs, driod engineers, and jedi! Restore that excitement I had when I first bought this game! Give us something to make us long for the clock to show it is quitting time so we can race home to log into our respective galaxies! Do the incredible job we all know you are capable of! Make the smuggle revamp worth something, please!

Dreadfully,

Raanan
