Thread: Wouldn't it be nice...

Yes, because some people have no reaction towards crafting profs or what gets crafted. I mean I may design interiors but what do I care about changes in furniture? I also am majoring in architecture in college...but hey I wouldn't be able to help come up with new building designs. I mean that would take a skill point outside of actual mental prowess.
Oh by the by,why wouldn't people just take their useless alt chars and grab novice in every profession to use the boards like now?

So what you are saying here is that noone would ba allowed to have an opinion on a profession they currently don't have? What about those that has been a certain profession then dropped it but still likes to post on the boards?

Oh, and would that really be so bad? These are, after all, the Rifleman Forums, shouldn't they just be for Rifleman? You can have your opinions about our profession, just post them somewhere else. I don't want to come in here andwade through967 "Riflemen are Uber, NERF!" posts from people who don't know what they're talking about.

Actually I only see the one and it is starting to deteriorate into an actual conversation/debate so I guess you just need to come to the forums without preconceived notions. Also, as I said, what about crafter forums? True pistoleers coming here may not know too much or have any good feedback on our profession but does that mean I don't have any right posting in the architecture forum or the tailor forum? What if I had an incredible idea for a new house/civic structuredesign(actually I do and have posted it there) or some indeas for clothes or actual questions that the FAQ doesn't address? Oh well you should be a member of that profession if you want to learn something.
Oh and even though I don't really believe you in calling this a joke thread, it is a very poor one.

Okay, first of all, I'm not a very frequent poster, but I've been coming to the forums for a long time. Each time that I visit the Rifleman forum since we got some love from the devs, there is inevitably one or two posts from non-riflemen telling us all how we're too uber, we need to be nerfed, etc.
It's annoying. When I get killed in PvP, I don't run to the Commando or BH forums and whine about my death; I take the hit and remember to either use different tactics next time or simply run away.
It says right in the description of all the profession boards, these boards are for discussion. Not whining, name-calling, or trolling. If someone has a valid point or an interesting idea, I'm all for hearing it, but the fact of the matter is non-rifleman very seldom have anything constructive to say at all onthe Riflemanboards.I've seen much worse on other profession boards as well, which is why I'd like to see each board set aside for "members only posting,"if you will.
If you noticein my original post I also suggested a second board where anyone can post. This is wherenon-profession members can post their ideas, thoughts, flames, trolls, etc.Thisboardwould allow both the rare insight from non-profession members to be heard, as well as keep the "NERF!" posts out of the dedicated forum so we don't have towade through them while we're lookingatreal posts.
To answer your question more directly, no, I DON'T think anyone has a right to go to a profession board they know nothing about and cause a lot of trouble. I worked long and hard to become a Rifleman; I don't need some 12 year old who knows nothing about what I do every day telling me what's wrong with my profession, how stupid I am, etc. Apparently people aren't mature enough to handle their emotional outbursts, so maybe someone should do it for them and restrict their rantings.
And the reason I said I wasn't serious is I know something like this would never happen, too much work and coding just to clean up the forums. But hey, maybe an Ignore feature would be do-able? Any post or thread created by someone on my ignore list just doesn't show up for me? That's something I think we could all use.

I can think of an good reason not to do it and give you an example.
Some people come to these boreds to ask questions about a profession they haven't taken yet. Cutting them off would just be unfair.

Once again, this is where the secondary board comes in...
