Thread: A Question about Cantina Crawl
1) If you want xp you can turn bandflourishes off by doing /bandflo off. If someone flourishes you, you don't get xp. You only get xp for flourishes where you hit the key yourself.
2) However, if in the middle of the animation for the flourish, you hit your flourish key, you don't actually DO the animation for the flourish you just hit, but you get xp as if you did it. This enables you to participate in the choreography or music, but to continue to get xp, if your timing is good.
EDIT: now that I think about it, this may not work for music because flourishes do queue. However, it's not quite as important for music, IMO, because if you're playing something like the bandfill, being out of sync with the rest of the band (i.e. just doing your own flourishes) will not be very noticible.
3) Sometimes people in group *cough* afk *cough* will get all mad if you do bandflourishes, because their action will get drained. If you want to do bandflourishes, be sure to notify the group of your intention, and give them an opportunity to turn their bandflourishes off if they desire. It is also polite to give others a chance to be the "band leader" if they want it.

Most of the music sounds ok if people are just doing random flos as long as they are all on different instrument groups(if you have two or more people on the same instrument doing different flourishes that is when it often starts to sound rubbish in my opinion)
For music you can bandflourish just people playing a single instrument using, for example:
/bandflourish 1 slithhorn
/b 1 slith <--- I belive this has the same effect

Sometimes people in group who are NOT afk but are newbies who don't know about turning bandflourishes off will get mad at you for this same reason... and a newbie might also not realize that they don't get any xp if someone is doing bandflos.
I know that I got annoyed the first time I was in a group and someone was doing bandflos and I couldn't figure out why I was running out of action so fast. I hadn't (at that time) even heard of bandflos. I finally stopped flourishing entirely... only to find that I was still flourishing with no clue as to what was going on. When I did find out what was happening, I was not at all pleased with the person doing the bandflos.
Bottom line: Bandflos should only be used in performance groups, and not in groups that are primarily there to gain xp.
