Thread: Theater in Mos Eisley?

G'day entertainers,

In Mos Eisley as I ran aimlessly looking for a Medical Center (as a n00b getting used to the map hehe) I came across that big theater in Mos Eisley (with the stage and seating, indoors).

It was empty, but I was wondering if that (or other theaters in the game) actually get used by you guys? Do entertainers put on any shows?

As the thought occured to me I should rather like to kick back and take in a show the next time I pass thru!

This question basically pertains to the Corbantis server, but I'd be interested whether those kinda structures are being used on other servers, as well.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on the topic, I'm not an entertainer character class-type.

Thanks!

Well, the theaters are mostly used by musicians/dancers to do their profession-specific quest (Musicians get a new song and dancers a new dance) but I guess they are also a nice place for (announced) player-events. The problem is (as far as I know) that musicians can't use the Omni-box or the Nalgaron onstage, so that's a major drawback. Other than that, I guess theaters are really cool. I liked doing my quest-gigs, even if the audience were only NPCs. I'm a musician IRL, so I know the feeling you get when you stand in front of an audience, trying to do your best...

All the features of NPC theaters work relatively well. (We may not like everything about them *cough*newbiequestclones*cough* but that's another matter....) It is player theaters that have the troubles with droid effects, buffing, Nalargons, Ommni boxes, and healing.

As far as (large)shows for the Theaters, the only ones I have personally attended have been Cantina Crawls and Entertainer Remembrance day. However, I do know of others (such as the Miss Galaxy competitions).

There used to be more events planned and coordinated by Entertainers, and we used to have some truly amazing choreographers out there (there are still some around), but SOE hatred/despise toward our professions hasdriven a LOT of Entertainers to quitting. It's rare now to find a group of Live Entertainers large enough to justify using a theater for their show--unless it happens to be a Cantina Crawl or other cross-server gathering of Live Entertainers.

People mostly don't use theatres because they don't use them. Entertainers and their audience need to find each other, so they go where they know they will: the cantinas in Theed, Coronet, and whatever the noob city of the month is on Tatooine. Nobody wants to run halfway across a planet only to find that the place is empty.

Gee, it sure would be nice if you could just look at the planetary map and see whether a theatre or cantina or med center was occupied or not, without having to actually go there. *cough* *cough*

I use theaters and hotels (all entertainer abilities work there too) sometimes if I get a /tell request to buff, and I am not already at the local cantina. Much less lag, usually, no spam...and its kind of fun since the buff customer usually doesnt know that these buildingsexsist.
