Thread: FanFest Update: 1000 new animations motion captured
Actually, I am somewhat encouraged by the idea that they have captured 1000 new animations, but I fear that they can all be classifiedin non-entertainment ways...they need piloting animations, gunner animations, they mentioned that they were going to add lots of new emotes...and not only do they have all these but depending on how they're counting animations, they could have several of their animations being just a single change. (that is there needs to be an animation for the new emotes in prone, sitting, standing, mounted, etc positions.)
Anyway, I've got to admit, I'm giving in to my excessive optimism and saying that this is a good sign for us.

Not likely, considering they did the mo-cap almost a year ago. The new emote package is, to my knowledge, the first any of that will see use in-game.
There is some hope. While I missed it as I was busy finishing up something, there was a panel about art where they showed footage from the mocap session, including new dances, as well as the acrobat stuff.

I was at that session. The motion capture we saw was amazing, and included extensive dual wielding of both pistols and swords, martial arts moves (like low sweeps), acrobatics (including juggling balls, pins, and hoops), new dance moves, and what looked like whole new dances. The video shown lasted a good 10 minutes and apparently only showed highlights of the sessions. A lot of footage.
Unfortunately it was all done in SEPTEMBER, 2003. So yeah...they've been sitting on this motion capture stuff for a looooong time, which is kinda discouraging to me.
Jake Rodgers (lead art guy) said he gets annoyed a bit when he keeps hearing the devs say "we didn't get enough art department time to do that." He assured us there were lots of things that they had created art for, but hadn't been implemented, and he wanted to say "we didn't get enough producer time for that." 
Non-entertainer note...he also showed footage of the new Jedi enclaves, and the design of the new Jedi robes (on a wookiee - yes, finally wookiees in real clothes, well Jedi clothes anyway). The enclaves and stuff looked pretty cool. Not that I'll ever really see the inside myself.
