Thread: Something that happened to me the other day....

Occasionally there are those little things that serve as a reminder what being an entertainer is about.

The other day I was in the Tyrena starport waiting for sunset, when a novice marksman (The clothes gave it away) came to me and asked if I could take care of his battle fatigue. I was a bit suprised by this, as I haven't had someone ask me that in a long time. So I explained that no, I couldn't do it in the starport, but I could in the cantina. It was still a half hour or so until sunset, so I had some time. He seemed a bit unsure of what to do next, so I told him I would head over to the cantina and get ready for a show.

So I ran over there, found a spot, and started dancing. Half a minute later, he shows up and starts watching. He makes a comment about how he loves this game as he settles in to watch the show. We get to talking a bit and it comes out that he's on a 14 day trial account, but is pretty set on going out and picking it up. He has desires to go combat medic, and currently has marksman (As I'd observed) and medic. When he's about healed up, I decide to show off a little and use a few well timed effects. He is, of course, totally floored by it, everything still gleaming and new to him.

Finally, he asks if people usually pay for this kind of thing. So I try to figure out the best way to explain tipping without feeling like I was clearing my throat with a hand held out. I tell him that some people like to show their appreciation for the service with a gratuity. A few seconds later I get a trade request. So I explain (As I've done before) about the /tip command, and I get a small tip that was probably a significant portion of his money. I thank him appreciatively for it, as I do for any tip no matter how big or small.

That, to me, is what it means to be an entertainer in SWG. Entertainers used to be more the newbie helper than anyone with the HELPER tag, simply because every new player eventually stumbled into the cantina.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

You could always enter a cantina before, and find life. You could always trust it to be a entertainer in there, that were friendly and fun.

Most of my core friends, are all entertainers or ex entertainers from that time...Hard to get new friends, as everyone is so rude, so ignorant or just merrily grinding away...

Some days I'm lucky tho...and run into a character that turn out to become a friend...most of those are entertainers oddly enough...maybe because they actually are social beings?

When the Star Wars world ends, my reason for being here ends. Thank you Helios_SOE for making that clear to me

Newbies are great! They remind me of how fun it was when everything was new. I enjoy interacting with newbies much more than the holo zombies. I find Mos Eisley is a great place to entertain. Thanks for sharing the story.
