So there isn't a qualification I need to reach in order to use a Mandoviol? Also, who makes instruments for us entertainers... artisans?

Entertainers make the first four horns, Musicians make the rest in the Techniques tree. You have to be a Master Entertainer to play the Mandoviol.

I was wondering if any of the experienced Master Entertainers know whether getting a better instrument improves the amount of musician experience I get? Anyone know?

The Instrument always effects the amount of Music XP you get. The Mandoviol does speed up your path to Novice Musician because you get the same amount of xp with that as you do the lowest ranking instrument in Novice Musician "Traz". This means you can get there quicker than other entertainers just using the Muscianship IV Instrument "Kloo Horn".

By the way had to add. Mandoviol is the "Best" instrument in the game!
