Ok, so I'd been down lately about the state of entertainers on Tempest, after hearing of a few friends dropping their skills. Tonight I was reminded that there are still many who make my life in the game happy, and there are those who can help fill the voids left when people leave.
Two separate experiences, in chronological order:
I became group leader of a relatively small group in Theed tonight. I hear a request for a group invite, and notice a nice female twi'lek in noob clothes. I invite her, and ask her how she's doing in spatial, with no response, then emote her a few pokes with no response. Worried that I had just invited a future buffbot into my group, or at the least an afktainer, I sent her a tell to ask how she was doing. To my happiness, she replied, and we struck up a conversation, where I learned that she had a character on Radiant, and had just come to Tempest, and was new to dancing. Well, I jumped on the opportunity to tell her what fun we have in the cantinas, get her joined into our atk chat channel, give her some accaragm, and even advertise the cantina crawls that she should check out to get a feel for how much fun we have
. The other entertainers on the atk channel quickly made her feel welcome, and Marina offered to come over to the Theed cantina and give her some new clothes. All in all, we made for a pleasant experience for her, and I was happy when her friends came in and asked how she was liking the cantina, and she said she was very happy with it
. She joined us for experience number 2....
Entertainer revolution! So, I have my afk filter on at all times, but I heard a few people commenting about Lliane asking for an invite to a group, asking why she was doing that. I took a look around, and there stood Lliane, instrument in hand, AFK, but *not* entertaining (and I mean this in the game mechanic sense of the word). I briefly removed my AFK filter to see her repeatedly saying "please invite me if i'm not in a group." Marina and I explained to those who were asking that it was an annoying macro that some people use, and how to turn on the AFK filter. Then the fun began. I decided to say, "Please kick me if I'm in a group." Within a few minutes, Marina and I were alternating spam-mocking-spam...
/yell Tips and heals are not appreciated. Please dont watch me.
/howl Plz do not tip your entertainers! Do not come into the cantina to see the show.
/yell Please kick me out of group if I am in one.
(I got my first tips of the night after starting this spam-mocking-spam). Needless to say, many people, ents and non-ents, found this entertaining and had a laugh. I decided to take the revolution one step further, which luckily could work since aside from one person, my group was entirely atk, and were the only entertainers in the place. We decided to mock those that stand in the entryway by going into the back room (the one you reach by going right (not left) past the bar). We declared that we would get the most customers by going there, and we of course continued our spam-mocking-spam. We all had a grand old time, new and old ents alike, and I smiled the most I have all week
.
Well, time for bed for me!
