Entertainer Archive

I have been a member of the SWG community since its opening in June 2003 and one of the things that always boggled me was what was there Really to being an entertainer.....where is the challenge?....I understand the purpose of the game dynamic to be a mind healer and a buffer. Beyond that....what is there aside from being the entertainer professions being the "social profession".

This sat in my brain for atleast a year and would be triggered everytime I used an entertainer whether it was a live person or a "Bot".

Then an Epiphany!!

The content entertainers are lacking is in actual performances.....or for a lack of a better word a "Gig"

This is what I came up with:

1. At the Master Entertainer skill box the skill...Register Venue....would be granted to allow Entertainers of both typesto Register for a

Time Slotto perform at a Theater or Cantina be it NPCor a Player citythat they are not banned from,the purpose of which would

be to draw a crowd to come watch your performance.

2. Performing at a venue with the registered timeslot, be it in a group or solo, would enable the Master performer to give up to a 3 hour

mind buff ACCORDING to how many Flourishes they can fit into the time session from beginning to end. Making it appealing to

fighters/hunters to actually come and watch the performances but not killing the market for normal 2 hour mind buffs.

3. The venue's would automatically charge admission...much like a vendor house charges admission to enter for a certain amount of time.

Proceeds would then be split between the registered group or paid to the solo performerat theend of the time slot session.

4.To prevent camping by entertainers....a 4 hour timer would be placed on all performers before they could re-register and perform

at the SAMEvenue. BUT....entertainers Could opt to Go on TOUR and perform at as many venues as they would like in their game

session just not thesame venue ina 4 hour time period.

5. Groups would get an additional pay bonus when the proceeds are split and would also give a certain5% bonus on the buffs they give

in a groupwhere BOTH musicians and dancers are performing.

I'd love some feedback on what you all think of this idea...I am not a performer but I think this idea adds a HUGE dimension to the entertainers world in SWG. It provides a challenge for people that want more than a social profession that provides a simple service.

It also provides a Better source of income than living off of Tips and relying soley on the kindness of others. You all provide a service and should be able to look at it as a business not a charity. It also gives a chance to Make a Name in the entertainer field and be known throughout the galaxy as a Great Performer be it in a group or solo. I'll be posting this in all three performer threads.
