Hi
I'm hoping to run this quest on TC later this month, tho testing and absorbing your comments may delay it slightly. The basic goal is to run a quest with activities for combat, crafting and, most importantly, entertainer professions (well, not image desingers, still haven't cracked how to get them in yet
). Now crafting and combat is fairly simple based on the Cries of Alderaan model, but I came up with this for running an entertainer challenge:
A toon is set up with a recursive macro (which means this isn't going to last forever, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it), this is primarily so I can leave the toon while I work / sleep to give our American friends more time to play it, given I'm UK.
The macro runs an autojoin and then in groupchat sends out four trivia clues, one of which is a real clue to a location, the other of which are just, in the terms of the trade, rhubarb.
The macro then proceeds to /tendheal 4 times. Each the same time distance apart. The contestant then has to divide this time by, say,10 and that will (lag allowing so round the number) be either 1,2,3,4. End with a /disband so can repeat for the next player. Solve the clue and you'll have the location, to complete the quest simply offer an item for sale to the vendor at that location, or for more complicated quests have another toon at the second location and repeat.
Now this should work for entertainers since you have to entertain the poor macro and burn up some action otherwise the /tenddamage will not happen (should get a 'no damage to heal')and you won't get the time.
It's going to be possible for some combat profs to get round it, but that I can't help, and in any case the poor macro will build up bf and wounds which will mess up the times, the entertainer repairs this so get's the true answer the poor tumbler will go to the wrong clue
The question is, do you think this will work, if no - any ideas to fix it? (I'll start testing it out tonight but I thought this up during my lunch break) if yes - any ideas to improve it? or do you think Pex could code something like this into the next story arc? (whenever that happens).
The location will probably be in a hotel/cantina (needs to be able to heal BF, so no theatres
), and from an RP perspective you entertain the guy and he gives you a hint to the next stage of the quest.
Any comments welcome.

Hmm, well tested the macro and it seemed at least do what I expected it to do. Will have to set about getting the clues together now and see if it works in practice.
It'll be open to anyone, so watch the TC forums and you might be able to win yourself a firespray!

First, let me congratulate you on thinking of this. We need more player-driven content, since the devs are certainly not going to give us any.
Unfortunately, I don't think this will work the way you want. I imagine that many entertainers will (a) be put off by the idea of an unattended character, given the battles we have with buffbots; and (b) are simply not interested in running halfway across the planet to do a couple of flourishes.
I personally liked the Theater Manager quest. You had to go out and talk to people to get them to listen (hopefully without spamming), and you also needed willing helpers to survey the audience for the final audition. I don't know how that can be implemented by players, but here are some ideas.
1. Place some vendors in a player cantina. Use custom barking to tell them which flourishes you like, or don't. Of course, you can't tell if they're actually doing it. Maybe they could email you a screenshot?
2. Get people to volunteer to help you judge a contest. Get them to agree to be at a particular location at a particular time. Craft an item for each timeslot that a judge will be available and place those items on a vendor. The description of the item is the timeslot and location, the sale price is the entry fee. Set up a scoring matrix for number of band members, coordinated outfits, flourishes, whatever. Maybe the judges can be bribed? I don't know. It adds to the social interaction.
3. Have volunteer judges, and post their names and usual playing times on the boards (and ingame, too). Each judge has a list of favorite and disliked flourishes and songs. Have the band track down the judge they want. Once the judge is "entertained", he contacts the organizer to communicate the bands success.
That's it for my lame ideas.

Quite possibly, but I should point out that this is part of a quest, the ultimate winner of which (last part will have only one winner) will receive a KSE Firespray, that might make it worth their while
The idea behind this is mainly about producing a real quest that entertainers can actually get involved in without needing combat skills, so far aside from a few delivery missons with fairly basic rewards, when you often need combat since the target can go agro, we've seen the theatre manager quests and the life day quests.
The key reason behind the afk toon is simply that he can do more than a custom barking vendor (which form other parts of the quest), ultimately if this works, then I'll be trying to persuade Pex to write a simple NPC that can do it, with more complicated subroutines and start adding more content for us. Who know's, it might work?
