One the goals the devs have is to get more professions invold in the war, to this end I had an idea.
Have BF recovery and mind buffs based on faction standing of you and the customer.
Examples:
Neutral Entertainers:
Neutral customers = Normal BF recovery and mind buffs
Rebelcustomers = Normal BF recovery and mind buffs
Imperal customers = Normal BF recovery and mind buffs
RebelEntertainers:
Neutral customers = Normal BF recovery and mind buffs
Rebelcustomers =+25%* BF recovery and mind buffs
Imperal customers =-25%* BF recovery and mind buffs
ImperalEntertainers:
Neutral customers = Normal BF recovery and mind buffs
Rebelcustomers =-25%* BF recovery and mind buffs
Imperal customers =+25%* BF recovery and mind buffs
* Note the +25% and -25% would increase as your faction standing increases.
Also I'm thinking you should receive faction points for mind buffs.
Fixing the AFK problem is key to this working.
What do you think?

Problem with this is it unless you make it overt/overt only, it kind of gives away covert status, something that a lot of people don't like.
Also, in theory this already happens. In factional bases, there is supposed to be a 25% increase to mind buffs. However I haven't heard any reports of it actually working.

That's true,
How do you feel about having it optional or (-25%* BF recovery and mind buffs )?

Don't see a problem with that.. But then, I've never seen healing rate as a big thing to worry about.

First of all, while many of the entertainers want to participate more fully for their faction, an equal ammount want to keep politics out of the cantina for the sake of tips. We already have a system in place for providing faster and greater buffs as a faction perk, and that is when a faction member buffs or performs at a faction base. But to drag politics into the cantinas? That is tantamount to making covertness pretty much a moot point, since one under this system would behave differently than a neutral with regard to faction issues, unless they perform an action that warrants a TEF. This would nerf my earnings a lot. The buff system, as it stands now, has been the BEST means of earning a living. It works. Tampering with it may very well make things a lot more difficult for me financially. I MAY go along with that ONLY if doctors, chefs, and spice crafters were under the same restrictions, AND the buffer and buffee are both overt. Why should our buff ability have some faction variable attached to it when other buffer classes don't? If anything, this will reduce my potential audience (and potential tips)by 60% or more, since nobody from an opposing faction will want to watch me. Even if members of my faction see me and tip me, I don't really see my tips going up 25%. It will, at best, be the same as it was under the previous 100% standard. However, if I am a neutral, and give the same buff that usually would have given me a 2k tip at 100% of the mind bar, my tips would go DOWN, because its not "the best." That is....if I can even get customers who will want to be buffed by one who can "only" give 100%. If I'm in a faction opposed town, FORGET IT. I won't make a dime, even if I buff to the best of my ability. Neutrality too, loses out the most, because most active players are factioned, and such players will universaly gravitate toward their own faction's dancer. I mean, come on! An Imperial crafter's gun doesn't become less effective if its bought by a Rebel. Why should my product's quality depend on a faction tag that I wish to neither display, nor ask about on the part of my clientele?

Sense they really don't know you skill level they really don't know how fast/strong it should be. Maybe have that part optional or reduce it to -5%?

Hello PoetDancer,
You bring up some nice points,
On the faction base issue I would think theincreaseswould stack, so players would still have a reason to go to a faction base.
On reducing potential audience, If this change would be added at the same time as an anti-AFK change, I'm sure we all would agree busness would be very very good.
P.S. the 25% is just a number I pulled out of the air, I'm sure the devs would come out with something better
(see post for anti-AFK idea - http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=entertainer&message.id=7417
