Hi,
I enjoyed the entertainer/musician profession a lot in beta. Since the game went live I havent been entertainer since I was already low on skillpoints and wanted to try other professions first. Anyways, finally I managed to get back to entertainer (musician as my main goal), already dreaming of jamming together with other people while chatting with them and having a good time as I did in beta. I really thought I would find enough entertainers of that kind and simply avoiding the AFK grinders. For those who havent experienced beta: the entertainers were still entertaining at that time, no AFK entertainers (at least not in that large numbers), they grouped, they chatted, they joked, they all had a good time and you could meet the same people daily in the same places (and they had real bands coming from this or that planet), the musicians played the great songs while the dancers danced ALL synchronic dancing.
Unfortunately, I realized that there seems to be hardly any serious entertainers left (at least on Eclipse), my guess is the few left gather at some secret place.
Most of the time I met the following types of entertainers:
1) - XP generator (the real big groups in the cantinas of Theed and Coronet for example - good for xp, wrong place to have fun) -
All right, I can understand this, everybody wants to hit master someday and I can still choose a different cantina....
2) people who accept to join a group for jamming but keep playing their own flourishes (to grind xp faster as they say), making the song sound weird, or worse, insisting on playing a total different song than the rest of the group - nobody really wants to listen to such an aweful sound this makes.
I cannot understand that, those people should group at the xp generator cantinas instead of spoiling the good music.
3) AFK entertainers as we all know them (I guess I dont need to describe them eh?)... I guess that spoils it the most....
I just qualified again for a skill and asked again for teaching without getting any responses (and some titles indicated that some people were able to train) - but one of the guys kept spamming every 10 sec that we shouldnt forget to tip for the "great performance" (did he mean his not-so-great afk performance?).
I realized that I had to train all but one or two skills by an NPC trainer because there was no entertainer on the computer in the public cantinas.
So it happens that I often travel from place to place in the hope to find other entertainers I can perform a great song with and have a good time but the chances that I find exactly that are REAL low.
Being very disappointed by all that it will be just a matter of time till I drop the whole entertainer story - this is just not fun anymore.
I am curious whether it works a lot better on other servers, what are you experiences? Who knows, maybe there is even a secret order of entertainers residing on Eclipse.
Sincerely
Landoria

I have an ugly feeling that there will still be a ton of AFK'ing people in the populous places, grinding away for xp...so they can be total buffbots. The most popular of these looking to be Master Musician/Doctor.

Yes, you are probably right.
Just reminds me of everyone being CH until the CH changes kicked in and only the serious CHs stayed.
