Ok, I'm currently grinding a holocron that I opened yesterday. I have to make Master Musician. I am NOT going to just set up a macro and walk away for 4 days though. Where's the fun in that? Anyways, to each his own I guess. I was in Theed by the river, no where near the cantina trying to learn to play my instrument yesterday and when I did flourishes it gave me xp. All of a sudden it occured to me, I wonder if we could set up street bands like they have in New Orleans? Or maybe you can't get healing xp outside the cantina?

Right.

You can do it and you will get music XP but you can't heal except in the following places:

BF + Mind Wounds:
Cantinas (player and public)
Theaters (with some bugged exceptions such as Rori)
Player Homes
Outpost Cantina/Med-center Combos
Guild halls

Mind Wounds Only (no BF):
Camps

I love your attitude, though. If you are going to have to take that route anyway, why not smell the roses? I'd rather have those players get a Jedi than the ones who whine and try to shortcut their way through life.

My secondary character is learning Image Design through a Holocron. I'm grinding a lot, but I experiment here and there too. I'm at least going to make the best of that.

So good for you, Phantazer. Belt those tunes out in the streets all you want. And you may make good enough friends to find that Combat Medic and guild that will give you 80k Ent Heal xp (per a thread I read elsewhere).

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Actually, you know what would be nice? If you could get healing xp/battle fatigue healing as part of a band, no matter where you were.

So that if you got a group of like-minded musicians and/or dancers together, you would actually be able to heal outside the regular venues. You could form a band that plays anywhere, with the same benefits of performing by yourself in a cantina.

Maybe you wouldn't heal as quickly, or it could depend on the number of people in your group who are performing, or whatever, but I still think this is a nice idea.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

Saw this post from January but I think it's a great idea. I was practicing to put together some songs for macros at a slow Starport and as people would get on and off the ship I would welcome or say bon voyage to them. And I had the idea that if you could get the healing xp, which really takes a while, at locations like that you would see people setting up all over and not just crammed in front of the cantina door. After all in real life there are street musicians all over the world. Also while practicing at the starport I was reminded of Key West in the 30's when they were trying to turn into a tourist spot. Unemployed musicians would form a band and play at the new airport to arriving tourists as a welcome band. Wouldn't that be great for the player city that just got it's shuttleport and needs the tourism?

Many's the time I've practiced while waiting for a shuttle to arrive. Get more tips doing that and amusing the others waiting than being a sardine packed in the cantina.

And I'm still waiting for a droid module that DEs can make that will put us on equal footing with Medics. Without that, it's obvious the developers don't take us seriously and just want us to stay The Girlfriend Professions™ populated mostly by AFK buffbots.

I grouped up with real entertainers one time and we started playing/dancing outside the starport in Theed. Got interesting reactions, some people were hostile, but it was nice when a few people commented that it was the coolest thing they'd ever seen in the game, with the dancers lined up and bandfloing and master musicians playing virtuoso. Also got more people asking for buffs than I ever get just hanging around outside the cantinas. Just made up something about protesting afk and told them they couldn't have any buffs.
