Thread: My Idea for all cantinas.

I was thinking about entertainers and there lack of tips.

So I thought there should be an npc who is a cantina owner. You can work for him by just dancing and playing music and stuff.

What I thought you could do is talk to him get a job and he will have set hours you can pick from. (I would suggest make it go by soe time) then when you take the job if you are not on a shift you get no money, but if you are then at the end of the shift you get so many credits given to you.

and just to make sure you show up to work, you get an in game email letting you know when it starts to close in on a hour till your shift.

And the higher level you are the more pay you get.

Dunno just a fun Idea I was thinking of that's all.

I like the idea, but the set-hours thing seems kind of harsh on player plans, no? we don't want the job to become too much like work.

You could maybe get paid on an xp or entertainer healing rate, so for every point you earn/heal you get, say, 10 credits or something...

You know what hurts tips more than anything? Not thanking the people that give them to you.

Ya JasonK that is a problem, but since you aren't an entertainer I can understand why you'd say that. I once heard somebody complaining how rude some entertainer was when he ignored the tip--but the guy wasn't ignoring it. There should be a beep whenone receivesa tip, as if you received a /tell. Entertainers have mad-scrolling spam, and tips notices are always lost in it. When you get a tip, it's even the same color as the message you get for experience. Even at master, I usually miss it when a tip comes in (unless I'm actually watching for it), and because I took the spam out of spatial and put it into the combat tab, it makes it even easier to miss the tips.

So actually tell somebody you tipped them. I'll have people ask, "Um, did you get the tip?" And I usually just thank them without bothering to scroll back through all the spam. And there's a LOT of spam.

So make /tip beep.

Under the Options - Chat Colour, you can add key words to appear in different colours.

I have "tips" in bright yellow and this helps a lot.

For busy cantinas....

First turn off your system messages in spatial and drag out your combat box to the side so you can still see them.

Put the following words in technicolor (under options) "tip" "bank" "trade" and your name (put the shortest possible version of your name - so if someone calls you by a nickname or a full name, both will light up). The reason I say "bank" is that when you receive a banktip, the word "tip" is not in there. Trade is good because when it says "so and so wants to trade with you" - you actually can see it(this is less of a cantina thing than a practical matter thing.)

No, what hurts tips the worst are all the AFK'rs spaming for them. If you are there AFK for the xp ... DON'T ASK FOR TIPS!!! The rest of us are there to get paid!

I never ask for tips for heals ... there is no way to control it anyhow, so why bother. If you get tipped, just say thank you an move on.

Another thing that hurts is that everyone is too afraid to set a price on their buffs. As a master dancer, i can buff in 6, 8, or 10 min intervuls. I require a 5k minimum charge for any buff. I ask my customers how long they want. This eases the whole "I charge 5k for a 6min buff, so on and so on" 4 min aint going to kill me if they only tip 5k and want a 10m buff, but i have found if they know that there are levels of buffing, they generally tip better. I have even gotten 20k tip for a 10m buff because the guy felt so bad ... he'd been jipping on his tips. lol

Crap ... i forgot about the "job" issue lol. I think that you all are on the right track. but instead of a set schedule, let it be like a "mission" base thing. The NCP is set up at the cant. you want to work, you let them know, you go on the clock. You get XX credits per each xp point. And what would be even nicer is if they could somehow make it to where the NCP knew if you were performing and then they could give you a bonus for each min you were performing. Say you clock in with the NCP at 9:00 pm. You start dancing immediately. You accumulate 1000 ent xp in 10 min (just say), and you clock out at 9:10. Say xp creds are set at 10c each and you get 100c per min perf. Your paycheck for that 10 min would be 11k. That is about what I get on a good tip for a 10 min.buff. I think this is a wonderful idea, and i think that cantina owners should be able to place the NCP's in cant. Not that the NCP's are the owners, just that they should be able to be used as "Entertainer Coordinators". There should be a set amount of "jobs" available. S/A only 20 people can be "on the clock" at any given time. That would allow for a full group.

So how do we get this idea rolling? I like it ... i'm excited about it ... This is a wonderful way for ent. to make money, because it sure isn't paying what other prof. are.
