Thread: a /grouptip commanded petition
on the SWG Discussion forum i started a petition to get a /grouptip commanded
More times then not it a group of enteraners playing and dancing in a cantina, and it's hard to tip each member, but if we had a /grouptip command it would be easy. maybe it shouldbe called /bandtip or /tipgroup.for example you /grouptip 100 a band with 5 members each member will get a 20 credit tip. if there is a odd number I guess the leader youcould get the extra. for example you /grouptip 100 a band with6 members each member will get a16 credit tip and there will be 4 credits extra.

I thought some of you may like to /sign it to help it.
I dont condone this. Unless you can Exempt AFK'ers from the grouptip
I work hard for my money and I dont like it if AFK'ers get my shaire
How would you get around this ? as the AFK "Can" be turned off and they could still be AFK, using a macro.
Keep it simple, keep it safe.
You want tips, work harder for it.
I NEVER ask for tips, its the entertainment I Provide. Make them laff make them cry MAKE them see your there entertaining them.
I am Droggo, the top musician on Naritus. Every day, me and Omo, the second best musician on naritus (or so the best we have ever heard of). we both play together every day in the Cantina in Mos Entha, which people often come to from other planets to play with us or listen to us. we group with every other entertainer in the club, no matter how skilled. This often includes a few dancers. If you have been to one of the Ship cantinas, you will find a stage, and a area below the stage. Me and omo stand on the stage and play diligently for hours, with a sync'd song, fireworks and all, while the dancers are below the stage where everyone can see them. I am friends with many of these dancers, and they arnt the type that takes all their clothes off and cybers people, they are just reg dancers, often low skilled dancers. With all of this, they will get maybe 5 or 6 times the tips i do, every single day, no matter what. People come in, they watch the dancers, they tips the dancers, they leave. People dont even know that the rest of the group are the ones actually healing the guys BF. No band member in real life makes more then the others from a concert. (excluding endorsements and other such outside deals) so i think it unfair to have a dancer with Entertainment healing 1 get 4k in tips when a Musician with Entertainment healing 4, Musical Battle fatigue healing 4, and Wound healing 2 gets maybe 200.
This command has to come into effect or else there will be people who just get screwd unfairly.

This would only work if it were toggleable by the band leader.
A pickup band in the cantina does not want to split tips.
A regular band that knows each other and plays together and needs shuttle tickets to the next gig needs to split it up and group tip would be easier on their end too.
As for a way of notifying the audience if group tip is enabled or not, i havn't come up with anything. But I'd rather not have lazy patrons group tip to 5 AFK and 3 live just cause they don't want to tip 3 times.
If we as entertainers give a good enough show, the audience will be begging to tip us each individually 40 times each and have our first child too. Let's strive for that instead of offering an option that encourages lazyness. Don't get me wrong, I like the grouptip idea, in the context mentioned above.
This is probably why a /grouptip hasn't happened, because of the various yeas/nays among the appropriate dev staff.
I think the smartest thing would be to make /tip a 'visible' command, with a third person emote set up. Simply "x tips y n credits". If you want to tip someone on the sly, use bank tipping.
Me, I split large tips when I'm good with the pickup group. Smaller tips, lower than a hundred, stay with me.
This, of course, leads me to my theory that every entertainer should have a day job (ie, scouting, crafting, even running missions). I mean, how many starting/starving artists IRL do you know that rely on the $50 they make from whatever gig/job/piece they happen to eek out? And how many courier cyclists do you see that DON'T have a dream of some kind they're pursuing? ![]()
As the devs have said before, if you only do one thing, it's going to be rough on you. Diversify and succeed until you become tops.
I am all for the /grouptip command. I understand that entertainers don't not feel they should split tips with those who go AFK, but this is not about a band splitting all tips received by the memebers. It is a request to let the customer decide to tip an equal amount to all members with a simple command. Determining if a tip gets split should be left up to the customer and not the band, unless it is an organized performance, and even then, the performers should be mature enought ot keep track of the tips they recieve and split them amongst themselves.

First, I am not an entertainer. I would really like to see a /bandtip command. I understand some of the concerns about the afk'ers getting the same amount of tips but I believe the burden should be put back on the entertainers to kick them out of the group if they aren't pulling their weight. I never tip anyone I see that has an afk above their head. But today just like many times before there was a group of 9 entertainers and maybe only two of them were giving a half assed attempt to "entertain". There was so many people there I had a hard time targeting the entertainers to actually tip them all. I gave a little more to the ones who tried but I just assume use a /bandtip command and be on my way. I wouldn't always use it but it's nice to have. Bottom line, I believe if you are a good entertainer you will be rewarded for it.
Perhaps an easier way to target individuals would help out. The "it's easier to /bandtip" opinion is distastefull to me. Although it shouldn't be a hassle, ease should not be the determining factor in who gets tips.
I think the /grouptip idea is a poor one. I get good tips when I put on a good show, and little to no tips when I start my macro before I go make lunch for myself. I do this to gain some xp during a few minutes spent AFK. I mostly only use my macros to free my hands for interaction with battle weary audience members. Doing this tends to earn me better tips. I see many who only flourish and don't talk to, smile at, or have any interaction with the audience at all. This makes me think that I earn my tips and some others don't, therefore I tend to get more tips than those so called entertainers.
If you want to make more tips as an entertainer, try being more entertaining. Also, get a day job. I have three and it keeps the fun factor up for me.
