Thread: DEVS: I knew someone would be an entertainer in SWG... I never thought it would be me

During development there were folks who would post that "entertainers are teh lame!", "nobody will play them", etc. I posted many responses to threads like these. "Someone will play them", I said. "Someone will love them." "For some people that will be a fun and rewarding playstyle." Still, I never thought it would be me...

During beta and initally in release all I thought about being was a creature handler. I thought it would be rare, and fun (we all know it's not rare now). Last week I picked up the game, and I started a scout, trained novice medic (for Bio-Engineer), and I was on my way. I should have known I wouldn't be one, I never stick with the first profession I choose in MMOs. It's always the second....

I had never tried it before. I assumed it wouldn't be for me. I thought it would be boring. I thought it would be shallow. I thought it would be for someone else ... I never thought it would be me...

I picked up Novice Entertainer as a funny passtime. A kind of a little personal goof. I started to dig it. I started another character on a different server created purposefully to be an entertainer. I was reluctant to go back to my first character... I bit the bullet and deleted him so I could be on my original server. I had to because he was the wrong race for the role I wanted to play. I created my entertainer character on my "home" server. I began to play.

Whoever composed the music in this game, and timed the flourish loops and the main tracks is awesome. Everything works together in such an interesting way. I should note that I have played the saxophone for 15 years and the guitar for 3 in real life. Maybe it's the musician in me that won't be denied. I don't know. Clearly a lot of time was spent working on this profession. A lot of thought went into making it interesting, broad, and rewarding. It's fun. Being in a group and playing together, listening to the different instruments work together is amazing. I just thought it was worth enough to note to the developers that the hard work they clearly put into this skill set was worth it for us. Thank you for spending time to put this profession together. I look forward to the future as a musician in the galaxy.

I knew someone would be an entertainer in SWG... I never thought it would be me.

I completely agree...my first character was a marksman on chilastra- then on the saturday after launch the server was down...I then started hey let's try an entertainer on Intrepid that server is up.....I have never looked back. Good to hear of someone with a similar feel about the profession.

Haha, well if you're the same guy from the DAOC boards I wouldn't have figured you for an entertainer either. I heard of lots of people that did that though, they tried it and liked it a lot and were really surprised. I guess I'm one of those guys, hehe. I am starting to run short on character points and I'll have to give up some skills soon, so I figured I should try entertainer before its too late... hey, its just 100c you know, no biggie. I tried it and its pretty fun. I am going to stick to my main goal, master bio-engineer, but I think I might get up to Musician IV as well. Its pretty cool to be in a camp with my buddies and for once NOT lament about those annoying mind wounds, just bust out the tunes.

You can add my name to the list of those that never thought this profession would be for them! Shoot, in Beta, it was the one profession I didn't try at all. So one day on a whim I decided that it might be nice to have the ability to play an instrument from time to time. Went into a cantina (Tyrena on SS...thanks Ser'zar!) and started playing, was invited into a group and welcomed like I had never been in a game. There's something about being in a group of musicians that you can't get from being in a hunting group. Needless to say I've been hooked ever since and I've spent more time and gained more experience in entertainer than in the others combined.

UberYodawho is your char on SS? I am a dancer in the same cantina. I'm glad you enjoy the place. and Ser'zar kicks arse. I love to listen to him jam while I dance. I don't know what he was playing last nite but it was perfect for my popular dance.

Hey Kurda! To be honest you probably haven't seen me. After the fine tutelage of Ser'zar through three levels of musician I moved to Tatooine to help a friend out with some problems he was having. I've been meaning to get back for some time now, so maybe it's that time. When a dreadlock'd Bothan with a slight spice addiction ambles through the door you'll know I'm there.

first sorry for the derail

We'll look forward to some new sounds. And it seems a few people left to try out other places and have decided to come back so we are getting our old crowd back again. But we do always welcome new folks.
