Thread: Fun way to spice up slow nights

I've traveled the galaxy, plying my Trazz in cantinas and lounges from Naboo to Endor, and run into some great cats. But for some reason, the swamps of Rori always call me back. Stepping off the starship at Restuss, that first breath of warm humid air always adds a spring to my step.

Unfortunately, this little backwater moon never gets much of a crowd. I was jamming in the hotel lounge, as usual. As the night wore on, people would trickle in, stay for a while, tip a few hundred credits (can you tell why I love coming back?), and leave. There would be long periods where I only played for that that group in the back who never seem to leave. What kind of Bothan diplomat never leaves the bar?

So I decided to take matters into my own hand. I hooked the stage mike into the hotel's PA system, and blasted out for all to hear: "Battle got you weary? Thugs pounding you with head shots? Come by the hotel and mellow out." After a brief moment of thought, I added "Punch and Pie."

Well, that certainly brought in the customers. After a few minutes, we had quite the crowd going. Even that shady spice dealer Cai seemed to be having a good time. And my old friend Reknoh stopped in, we played a few tunes for old times sake. There was Arcanna, the local seamstress, displaying her newest wares. And even old Vegeta got into the spirit of things, at least once he parked his menagerie outside.

Well, people must've been bringing their own "punch", because things just started getting merrier and merrier. For some reason, Rek decided to challenge Cai to single combat. Well, you can tell just by looking at him that Cai's a tough customer. Rek, on the other hand, has to be the unhealthiest Twi'lek I've ever seen. He's smart as a whip, and quite handy with a hair pick and makeup kit, but not really someone you should be scared of in a bar fight.

Well Cai seemed to take it in good humor, even standing there as Rek sprayed the room with blaster fire. By the Maker, I swear Rek couldn't hit the broad side of a Bantha at 5 meters... Finally, just to get things over with, Cai sauntered over, layed a few haymakers across Rek's head, and it was over.

Eventually Doc Gith got Rek back up on his feet. He stood up at the mike letting us know that he really wasn't much of a fighter, which he disguised with his "good looks and manly physique."

That's where things really started to get silly. I mean, ok, I may have muttered something about "not being that good of a disguise", but you shouldn't hold a Bothan's word against him when he's just talking to himself, should you? Rek turned to me (I swear I had cut him off the Jawa beer hours ago), and asked if I wanted to make something of it. Part of me just wanted to apologize and let things smooth over. Unfortunately, the rest of me somehow caused my hand to snake out, slap Rek across the cheeks, and challenge him to a duel. He accepted, and we began flailing at each other with fists and feet.

Oh, did I mention I still had my Trazz clutched in one hand?

Well, Rek decided that this was an unfair advantage, so he took out his Kloo horn. At this point the seats in the lounge were empty, since everyone was rolling in the aisles, laughing until tears came out their eyes. Imagine a 2 meter Twi'lek and a Bothan measuring a scant 125 cm swinging instruments at each other. Well, after a few minutes of this, we were both getting out of breath, and decided to declare it a draw. As a quick coda to our fight, we played off this jazzy little march tune we both knew, and the party slowly wound down as everyone made their way back to home, hearth, and bed.

I just love to hear a good story. Very well told. Thank you for allowing me to take a load off and enjoy your tale. Next time I stop by I hope to hear another.

Thanks for the feedback. I just was sitting there bored the other night, building up xp, and tried to liven up my own experience, then it just kind of snowballed from there. Then when I was writing it up, it just sounded better to do it "in character".

I think we can take "entertainer" off in more directions than just music/ID/Dance. Get a couple people with mouse droids and have battlebot competitions. Recite poetry. Find those artisans grinding away at crafting, pull them into the cantina/hotel, throw a party. Get off the xp grind once in a while and have some fun. I'm sure customers get tired of hearing the same old songs, watching the same dances. If they end up just coming in, hitting watch/listen, then going afk while they heal up, we'll never make the serious credits (yeah, I know, I'm living in a fantasy world inside a fantasy world, let me dream!).
