Okay Entertainers don get tipped half as much as they should, and many dont get tipped at all, i always make a note of tipping even if it is a small amunt, i read somewhere they worked for 8 hours and oly made 15 credits

So whats the normal tip? or suggested tip?

Tips are in no way a source of income, nor should they be. They are just friendly gestures. People don't carry too much cash, and a bank tip charges a 5% fee. So people tip what they have or they don't tip at all. A 1 credit tip is a tip, same as a 100 credit tip. They are both nice gestures of appreciation, but neither one is going to buy you a large house. Musician is not a lucrative profession, but it is the most fun. Artisan is where you want to be if you're looking for the money making profession. But that is the least fun profession...

Well, while the first 2 weeks of SWG were a true joke tip-wise, now with the economy in game starting to get better, the tip situation gets better too. Some really rich folks like Master Architects come to cantina, enjoy the performance, and tip 1000 cr and more.

In a good cantina at peak time you can make 3000 cr in a few hours easy.

Just be nice to your guests, entertain them with jokes, good flourishes and light effects, and you get lotsa tips.

Sure, 3000 cr can be made in 1 hr running delivery missions, but that's no where near the fun hanging around in cantina.

3000 credits can be made in 10 minutes doing city to city deliveries back and forth, two at a time using the shuttle.

I am working towards pistoleer/entertainer (haven't decided if I will be a dancer or musician).

But one thing I noticed, is dancing for 3 hours in Theed I might get a total of 300-500 credits. Last night I played an instrument instead of dancing, and to my surprise in 3 hours I made 3150 credits instead of the usual 300. I wonder if this was a coincidence or what.

Anyways, that is my usual experience with tips...I don't make much money that way. Most of my money I make doing destroy missions.

Zelissa, I'm probably going to have to go with the coincidence theory on that one. I've found that dancers consistently make better tips than musicians (probably because they're all/mostly well-built femaleswith a predominently male customer base).

Now the other thing is that I've come across an inverse relationship between xp and tips. If you're in a big group with a large audience (i.e. getting loads of xp), you won't get tipped much. First, there's probably the people who think that someone else in the audience is tipping. Second, with a big band and no /tipgroup command, someone watching has to /tip each member, and it's easy to get missed. Orthey may think that autosplit works with tips, and only tip one performer, assuming it goes to everyone.

Now, if you find a nice out-of-the way hotel/cantina on a less populated planet, you won't get near the xp. Less entertainers to group with, and fewer customers. But after aday or twoyou start to get regulars, and since they can actually make out the name tags floating above our head they start to recognize you and tip accordingly.

If you want my suggested tip, I'd say 1 or 2 credits per mind wound/BF healed. Also, I'll gladly take a /tenddamage from a medic instead of cash, since that means I can play longer, and the mind hit they take from using /tend get's healed by the entertainment anyway (which gives me a healing xp boost). In my opinion, medics who heal entertainers are worth their weight in glitterspice.

And what does delivery mission money have to do with the questions and comments posted in this thread?

I'm sure there might be better money doing missions than I make some days, or some time periods, but as an Entertainer, most of the time, I prefer to be in the Cantina or venue where I'm performing. 3k can be made in even less time than your missions if the right customer walks through the door, at any rate

As for a standard tip amount, to the original poster, I'm not sure there is one. I've been tipped everything from 15c to 10000c. I've been tipped organics, inorganics, hairstyling (beyond my own level), clothes, jewelry, and a clothing mod. I have also been tipped nothing, but some of the people who come in, and that's ok too. Give what you can, or feel comfortable giving. Even if the guy right next to you tips more, if you're kind, and appreciative, you'll be remembered just as much, if not more, and if the Entertainer is any good, you will get the same show and attention. (or at least feel like ya do <wink>

Not in Dearic. The deliveries there are all off-planet.

no, we also get paycheck. I worked as a waiter and i got a paycheck in addition to my tips. If you think all we get is tips then you are sadly mistaken. In the place i worked we were lucky to get the 50 cents that was their change from the check sometimes. Yeah i caan live of of $0.50 for about the three minues it takes me to get to the drink machine. I suggest that when player run cantinas are set up, there be a separate fee for "employees" that needs to be paid like maintenance, similar to a paycheck. Every entertainer that is hired by the cantian owner would get some money from that poll every day they played in that cantina and 10% of any tips they make go to the cantina owner to help with expenses. My opinion but i could be wrong.

My Wookiee entertainer is the second richest character I have, and the first to break 10k.

My secret? Gig missions. Especially gig missions on Rori. 500 credits a pop and xp. I play a dancer and a musician so I grab two, hit them, then back to the theater. On Rori you almost always get the mission to send you to a nearby hotel. On Tatooine you can get sent to Ancorhead pretty often; may as well run a few fast inner-city Rebel deliveries to bolster your bank account.

Even so, I make a killing on tips. I guess it's the novelty of being a Wookiee dancer.
