More xp.
I'm a tad puzzled by the other dance you get at lvl2, though...Flourishes 5-8 appear to be the exact same move.

The default step is improved. This is true of most (if not all) the dances. The first one looks a bit clumsy, the second one looks as though you've 'mastered' it.

whats the point of basic 2? all the flourishes are exacly the same as basic 1

Lilin's exactly correct. It's an improved version of Basic. Once you get Basic2, there's zero reason to use Basic ever again. That goes for every other dance, too. The second version you get is just better, not different.

And yes, some of the dances don't have more than five flourishes. In the case of those, everything after 5 will just perform the same flourish as flourish 5. Rhythmic (and by default, Rhythmic2) are like that. You'll also find that some dances share flourishes with earlier dances- for example, Footloose has some of Basic's flourishes in there.
