Thread: I see where you entertainers are coming from now
Just wanted to send out my sympathies to all those struggling entertainers.
I spent a lot of my evening in the Cantina of Kor Vella last night(appx 2 hours). I won't say the company was bad, because it wasn't. I had a good time playing for all the people that came in and all the chitter chatter that took place. It was a great time really...that;s why I spent so long there.
But, dang, I healed a lot of people with my limited music I skills and only recieved two tips...for a total of 800 and some change. One was from a friendly medic...I'm guessing he knows how it is being in the 'service' industry. And the other from a combatant of sorts. Actually I spent so long in there I almost entirely went from Music I to II and half way(if not more) up to Ent Heal II.
Now, I'm not complaining as this is only a skill I picked up to become more social with everyone and pick up on the local gossip. I don't expect tips and really only perform when people need it(a lot in camp sites and desolate taverns). I guess I'll add that I was the only entertainer in Kor Vella for those two hours. I don't like to barge in on anyone's territory and will gladly give up most of the tips to the more serious entertainers if they are present.
But geeze, that was just insane. I probably had 100 or morepeople come through tonight. And 800 credits. Woah. That's 8 credits/player.
With the exception of my first few trips to the cantina, I've always tipped my entertainers(yes, I'm claiming ignorance there). I've always enjoyed their company. It's always been a good time and well worth the 500+ credits every single time.
Even being of the same faction as 90% of the people that came through there, I didn't see a single credit from most of them.
Granted, I told a few of them that I was working out of charity...that was only a few of them though, and only the ones that mentioned something about a tip. And two out of maybe 10 people that were present while that comment was made still insisted on tipping me...enter the 800 credits.
Anyhow, I just wanted to let y'all know that I feel where you're coming from on the whole tipping situation and thankthose that take the time and have the courtesy to tip you entertainers. And bow greatfully to the entertainers that stick around regardless of the not so significant pay.
I raise my glass to you mr and mrs entertainer.
