Thread: One thing going into my second report...
I haven't completed my second report yet, but one thing going into it is.....
I'm going to strongly encourage that SOE work on a way to end AFK Entertainer macroing...just wanted to give you a heads up. Its becoming a huge problem both to other entertainers and other players...its also giving us a really bad reputation in the community.
Those praising me form a line on the right....
Those burning me in effigy form a line on the left...
Great idea. FinallyI can get a hero again because I have no RL and have the time to feel proud pressed a button over and over again.
vfvs11a you area god.
This gets a thumbs-up from me.
I wouldn't call him a god, an angel perhaps....![]()
I'll salute you at the hanging.

I just have to ask this (and I willingly accept the flames):
- Are you doing it because you have a strong hatred of it?
- Are you doing it because you feel that's the opinion of the forum community?
- Are you doing it because you feel that's the opinion of the ingame community?
I have no idea what being a "Team Lead" means. Does that mean just leading the forum community?
If so, then you gotta know by now just how different a forum community is from an ingame one. There is no better example of an issue than AFK macroing.
The forum community appears adamantly opposed. In the last four weeks, I've found exactly two people who adamantly opposed it ingame. The rest were casual about it. Not for them but fine for others. And they won't miss it when it goes away.
I think it'll go away. It goes against the intent (though not the letter of the law) of the EULA.
But the forum community does not represent the ingame community in an approximation opinion. It's dedicedly slanted by the very nature of forum posters being very different from ingame players. People who seek to be heard out of the game have a reason to do so. That is the main reason why casual ingame issues can generate such vitriolic rage out of game.
It's not a slight against anyone. I'm as active on forums as anyone else here (though not on these forums). It's just that those who come to profess something about a feature don't speak for eveyrone that doesn't.
I encourage you all to read this to see where our correspondent is coming from:

He afk macro'd himself to master musician, and now decided that it is a bad thing for the profession... apparently it was ok when he thought he was one of the few exploiting macros in this way.
/sigh
I'd imagine that a change will be made soon at any rate. If you go on the test server, changes have already been made to make it nearly impossible to AFK macro while surveying.
They're fixing the problem of people who are using the macro system in the way it wasn't intended to be (imho) for all professions, it will just take them a bit of time to get to us.
Uh I've been a master musician longer than our correspondent, I don't remember saying anything like that in my message...
PS- ask anyone on my server how often I wasn't at the keyboard to answer their tells and thank them for tips... it didn't happen.
I'm glad to see you're going to put this in your report. Please see if you can get a rep to address this issue in the entertainer forums.
For all the folks who are pro afk macro'ing for xps.I can only assume that what you want from the entertainer class is that you spend "x" points and get everything all at once since you're obviously not willing to put any time in to it or god forbid earn it. I'm sorry to be blunt but that's it in a nutshell,if you afk macro for xps then you didn't really do anything to earn them.
Thanks Hijo. Hopefully this is open the eyes of some people around here.
Maybee the sarcasm I bring in my fist post not really shined thrue so let me say it clear:
Leave the people who want to macro alone. If you not macroers feel proud to press a key a million times then more power to you but i want to play and have fun. I love to be a musician and play my songs for the others but without any EXP-Grind in my back make mespam the flourishes to get the next song. I want to flourishbecause the song needs it. I want to use the instrument that fits the whole band and not the one giving most exp. Ok then do this you all say but for a casualgamer like me it would take weeks to get the next skill , months to do only one skilltree so im happy that there is a chance to do EXP-Grind with a macro and enjoy the few hours i have playing. And one thing i always ask myself is : Why are you proud to press a button a million times ?Whats the fun press a button a million times ? Do you really think that this makes you a 'better'musician ? I bet my omnibox that i as a RL-Musician have more feeling for the flourish and chain them together than the most of the proud No-Macro-Flourish-Spammers I jammed with in cantina.
Okyou are all right about the people joining a group and then go afk. Kick them out of the group, set them on ignore, bite them in the leg but dont destroy a casualgamers dream thats greatest nightmare is the return of the EXP-Grind like in Everquest and all the other games out at the moment. When you try to get rid of the AFK-Players in the cantina dont destroy a 'Dream come true-game' for the casualplayer.
Thanks for listening.
PS: Please exuse my fatal english. Im german.
