Thread: ENT HEALING question
I started out as a Dancer and a Scout, with plans of being a ranger, due to my preference for combat dancing over being in a cantina. Well the time time has come where I've found I need to revoke my Novice Dancer title (with much disappointment)for needed skill points.
Figuring that under Novice Dancer, back down into Novice Entertainers skill tree, I assumed that Dancing Skill and Entertaiment Healing skill trees were "separate" in that your level in the dancing tree determines the type of eyecandy dance you do and EXP gained for a particular dance style. That your level in ENT Healing was the AMOUNT of healing (higher as you moved up in it) you did when dance and EXP in that is gained towards that tree.
So, when I needed to discard some points to put into Ranger, I figured I would just get rid of the eyecandy dances and keep the ENT HEALING line up to lvl 4. Out in battle no one really seemed to care if I was doing Formal or Basic.
Lo and behold...in my house last night healing a friend, I find that the healing is basically at the level of a newbie novice entertainer. Sure, no fancy dances and back to the lower level XP for the dance, but the healing? It's no different than if I didn't have the ENT HEALING 4 at all, in fact, I will probably scrape that whole tree since it's making no difference whatsoever.
I always gained Dancing experience faster than the Healing tree experience so I didn't really notice and had assumed that while they were USED together, they were indeed separate things and not directly related, or AT BEST made a very slight difference.
Is this so? Has anyone else seen this? It seems rather silly to have the skill tree full if it's not really doing anything.

To add to this, I tested it. It doesn't seem to matter the amount of BF or wounds I'm healing (as suggested in the Dancer forum) I used flourishes (I had the first time too) as another dancer suggested. 1 to 2 BF per tick as opposed to the dramatically higher when I had Dance IV along with the ENT HEAL IV.
Looking for reasons why my ENT HEALING 4 isn't giving heal bonuses (above what a newbie ent does) without having any dance skill tree now.
Are you saying you heal ata slowerrate when you had ONLY healing IV as opposed to having ONLY healing IV and dancing IV? Not novice dancer mind you, but JUST healing IV and Dancing IV?
A novice dancer with no boxes (besides novice) healing faster than an Entertainer with only Healing IV and Dancing IV makes sense, but I haven't tested anything like that.
Are you getting these results from being solo or in a group? When you do the tests, is the person you are healing just as wounded for each variable (Dancing I/healing IV and Dancing IV/Healing IV)?
I was solo healing one time tested and solo while healing someone /watching me another time. He was the one who commented on how much slower it was causing me to indeed check that this was true.
Tonight I tested it further. I danced and found my BF was dropping by 1-2 points per tick. I went and re-trained in Dancing I and found the BF dropping by 3-4 per tick after I had the new dance. So it appears there is a correlation between lvl of dance/music and Ent Healing.
Looks like I'll get some new skill points because it's absolutely worthless to keep the extra ENT Healing IV without having the dances. Depressed me enough to give up Novice Dancer, now this /cries
Regardless, we should bring this up as an issue with the devs: Healing skill should be independent of the dance, song, or instrument being used. Otherwise, the entertainment healing skill line is pretty pointless.
I also say this because if I do ever end up dropping master dancer, I was planning on dropping technique (although now that I know how the buffs work, that's a tough call) and dropping dance knowledge down to the level of popular2, which is the dance I prefer in most situations.
Not sure how it works with Dancer, but I'd assume it's like Musician.
Musician most certainly does matter what your Fatigue Healing and Wound Healing levels are. I notice great improvements each time I learn a new one of these boxes.
This is a huge disappointment in my eyes because I had always wanted to be a dancer but really wanted to "be out" in the field dancing. Surrendering the skill points was difficult but one I chose because I figured I could at least salvage some of my hard work gaining the ENT healing experience and just not be a "pretty dancer" with all the right moves.
It is an even bigger disappointment because it's hard to find any Entertainers willing to go out hunting (another BIG reason why I wanted to do dancing/ranger, plus I make the camps I can dance in!). There are more and more AFK'ers in the cantina and the really fabulous dancers/musicians in groups doing "real" entertaining are getting by far better experience being in their entertainment groups in the cantinas and hotels. All I wanted was to be able to go out hunting and do some "semi" decent wound healing and with the fact we (my reg hunting party) have to come back for BF in town, we'd get some juicy BF healing by a more qualified dancer/musician.
Hopefully this will be a heads up for anyone else thinking they might do the same thing later on by retaining their healing lvl but dropping their music/dance lvl. Seems you gotta do all or nothing =(
/bye bye dancing =(
