Thread: Crafting jukebox.
While I won't advocate anything that would replace a performers ability to be the best at mind healing I'll add an idea that could make holograms work.
If you have ever examined a dancer while they were dancing you see basically motion capture of the perfomance. They are not 3d they are just like a movie. So that technology is in the game. How to transfer that technology to a crafted product would take some thought. I would think that a performer could purchase a tool or a droid that contained the ability to record a performance. I think a programmable droid would work best. Programing the droid to record me or record target the droid would then execute the examine command and record what is seen in the examine screen.
Perhaps equiping the droid with a storage module that is then stocked with blank datadisks. Then when opening the storage module of the droid after a would then contain recorded datadisks. This would mean having the droid function as a crafting device in addition to a recording device.
An additional crafted item from the architect furniture line perhaps several versions that would increase in performance or view screen. Would be needed to view the datadisks.
I don't think it would be possible to have the datadisks be editable so the performer would need to get their timings down well for the best recordings.
For musicians and cd's it would be recording your actions like a macro does. There would need to be a way to designate the instrament being used to create the wanted sound.I think there are bandflo commands that can be given that indicate the instrament to be used for various flo's these would need to be used to indicate the proper sound.
Final thoughts are that I think this would be possible without the need to add too many new functions. Some might need to be resized or changed a bit. New artwork for the cd players and a new memory chip / module for droids to enable recording.
When you examine you do see a 3D model. But yeah, irrelevant as your suggestion works either way.
I was talking to another player in the game yesterday, Mister_Bones on the forum, and he had a great idea about droids that can "tune in" to the cantinas.
I was intrigued and started really thinking about this... A jukebox would work too, but droids are just cool ![]()
You would purchase the "Jukebox Droid" from a DE, and there are different pieces for the droids for each NPC City cantina.... so you could have a droid with a Coronet Cantina chip installed, then you can tune into the Coronet Cantina, which will give a message to the band leader of the largest band in that cantina (most of the time there's only one) the band leader can accept the broadcast (with the option to negotiate a bank tip up front, if they so desire) and then the droid (anywhere in the galaxy...or perhaps only on the same planet) would begin playing the exact mix of music that the band is playing, so the remote listeners can hear. Musicians in the band can /tell the droid things and they will be broadcast in spacial to the remote listeners. This would heal mind in camps, or mind and BF in player houses.
A seperate idea would be for musicians to be able to create the droid parts that allow the droid's owners to not tune into a specific cantina, but instead tune into whoever created that part for the jukebox droid. So Wemi creates the part, gets it to a DE who makes a droid with it, which is now like Wemi's Jukebox Droid, and the owner can listen to Wemi play remotely. Droids can have multiple musician's "chips" installed in them. I like this idea because it allows musicians to spread their name, make some profit, and have more to do than just play music all the time. The drawback to this idea when compared to the Cantina Jukebox Droid idea is that it will be less frequent when Wemi is online. The Cantina's will most usually have someone playing in them. Multiple chips in one droid help alleviate this problem somewhat, but there would still be times when the droid owner cannot find any of the musicians his droid is programmed to broadcast online.
If a droid could be made with BOTH the musician's personal chips AND the NPC City cantina chips then that could work...
