Thread: Where's our new correspondent?!
You missed the thing about new dances, flourishes, music, and instruments?
They posted a bulk response to all remaining professions. Only one left out I believe is ID
They aren't doing a point by point reply to all of the correspondents as far as I know. NewJedi (musician correspondent) has gotten a reply on a couple of issues, but as I say they aren't just quoting and replying point by point.
Don't expect to hear anything in the entertainer forum until we have a new person appointed though, since the last correspondent "resigned" a couple of weeks ago.
Frustrating...
I'll deal. Just a bit weird because didn't some classes get a "point by point" reply to the five issues submitted? Oh well.
I still think that the musician/entertainer professions have a lot more potential and something like /changekey (to change the key of the music starting on the next loop) would actually make it fun again. Don't get me wrong, it's great fun playing music for people, but the same songs get old because they're always the same key.
As Hijo said, Holo did post a general set of points about changes coming for Entertainers. He promised new dances, flourishes, songs, instruments, and effects, as well as /denyservice. It was an encouraging reply, but not a point-by-point response to the entertainment Correspondents' top-five lists.
For what it's worth, I've e-mailed the devs to ask whether we Musicians can expect a point-by-point reply to our top-five list. If I hear anything back, I'll try to remember to post here as well as in my own forum.
BTW, I like the idea of a /changekey command too. And a /changevolume command, while we're at it.
Everyone making strange sounds....maybe make it so the leader can do it, but im probably wrong on this
NewJedi, what type of instrument do you want?
Hi SinnAsyr,
You're right, a /changekey command would probably have to be bandleader-only -- or, at least, /changekeyband only. Then again, a twelve-tone Rock might spice up that tune a bit.
But I'mnot surea /changevolume command would have to be leader-only. I suppose you could give only the bandleader the power to "mix" each instrument,or to do /bandcrescendo and /banddecrescendo, but itcould also work with individuals tweaking their own volume -- provided that the individuals are workingtogether.
As for instruments, our first priority in the Musician Correspondent's initial report was more "distinct sounds" -- meaning that a fanfar should sound somehow different from a slitherhorn. That would be my personal first priority for more "instruments." Also, many Musicians seem interested in separating bass and drums -- bass on bandfill, drums on ommni. My guess is that the first request is feasible; they'd just need to record a new track and patch it to fanfar, traz, etc. The second might not be so easy.
Beyond that, I can think of all sorts of instruments that would be nice to add. Much as I enjoy the mandoviol, I'd like to see a greater variety of stringed instruments:acoustic guitar;harp;leadand rhythm guitar; viola; cello; maybe string bass (as opposed to the electric bass we hear on most tunes now). Personally, I'd like to see a Guitarro that really just functions as a guitar, a Violinmando that just does violin, a Cellomando on cello, etc. Another possibility is completely new wind instruments: a separate new horn that is always an oboe, one that is always a flute, a clarinet, a bassoon, a French horn, you name it. That way one couldform rock bands of guitars, bass, and drums; jazz ensembles, with brass, woodwinds, piano, bass and drums; and classical chamber orchestras with strings, woodwinds, and percussion.
Heh heh, I know, we'll probably never get all this. But a guy can dream, no?
WE NEED AN ACCORDIAN!
also the jabba's palace song!!
And those big gong things that the people in jabba's palace had in the SE.
Guys, I'm worried thatmany willbe let down when new dances, song flourishes, songs, instruments don't make it in for a year or more. I didn't interpret Holocron's response to Entertainers as "we're adding them soon", but instead as "yeah yeah, of course we'll do them...when we have time".
I'd rather believe the latter and be pleasantly surprised when we actually do get the things. So far, entertainers are barely even a blip on the radar (I realized that from conversing recently with a dev about an exploit). Recent poll shows that of 34,000 votes, only 3% of them started as an entertainer out of the 6 starting professions. I don't expect that to change much.
Forgive the nay-saying, but don't get your hopes up until you see stuff popping up on the TestCenter. ![]()
