Thread: Need feedback on cantina concept, club rules, and real world web site

The building is up. I've got a real world interior designer who is a Master Architect in game furnishing as we speak. I've worked out the mechanics of who can perform and who can enter and how. Also worked out how to avoid those annoyances that plague most cantinas.

Bottom line is I am targeting serious role-players who want to get the most out of the game. I am aware of most of the reasons why this concept maynot appeal to all players. If you are one of them please don't bother replying. What I need is honest and constructive feedback on all of this so I can tweak it before launch.

Basic premise is this. Only "approved" entertainers may perform...they must audition and will be granted Entry permission. Customers must pay a cover charge to enter. I have a Champagne room, full bar and kitchen, a dueling arena outside in the works, social events, etc...oh ya...the location is PERFECT. I have club rules posted on the web site and they will be enforced by threat of banning.

So why would Master Entertainers want to perform at my cantina? Because they are serious role-players who want to perform for other serious role-players without newbies AFK'ing in their underwear, duels going on around them, etc.

So why would players pay to get in? Because they are serious role-players who want tobe entertained by Master Entertainers without newbies AFK'ing in their underwear, duels going on around them, etc.

This project is an effort to add quality content to the game and at the same time do some justice to the Entertainer profession. I welcome any advice or suggestions.

I will send a URL to my real world web site to those of you that are helpful and express interest in participating.

Well that was the idea originally for a few reasons. Clearly better performances. Provides an incentive to even bother pursuing Master Entertainer. Creates a HUGE incentive for players to visit. Rules also prohibit AFK'ing, lewd conduct, dueling inside, pets, etc. Idea is to address the things that suck the most about being an entertainer. I want serious players that are looking to roleplay...not run and gun types.

I realize that Entertainers that haven't reached Master will not like this, but I see it as important to ensure quality for patrons and I'm hoping that Entertainers will view this as something to aspire to...being able to perform at my cantina.

That said I have been kicking around the idea of allowing Masters to each bring in a certain number of up and coming entertainers...or perhaps letting anyone that has at least moved beyond novice...since I can ban them at any time.

I'm open and eager for opinions and suggestions.

PS - I'm in this for the long haul so overnight success is not critical...if it takes time to make this concept work...and the end result is a popular cantina...I'm ok with that.

From the soon to be launched web site:

A unique experience
Unlike most cantinas and taverns in the galaxy, at Bottoms Up every one of our entertainers is a Master of their chosen art form. You will not find novice performers AFK'ing in their underwear. We attract only the most talented and professional dancers and musicians because we go to great lengths to provide them with a top notch clientele. Those seeking merely to recover from battle fatigue will not appreciate Bottoms Up. Our club is all about providing the BEST cantina experience possible for both patrons and performers.

How do we do this?
By offering the highest quality entertainment, services and amenities you will find anywhere and charging a fee at the door. In addition to the best talent on any planet, our expansive nightclub offers a full bar and kitchen, a Champagne room, a dedicated dueling arena, and members only social events. To experience all we have to offer, Bottoms Up patrons pay a cover charge each time they visit. This fee grants access for 24 hours. Patrons who violate the Club Rules will be banned and will NOT receive a refund. We feel this model will provide a welcome alternative to the in-town bar scene by providing an incentive to participate and a mechanism for discouraging disruptive behavior.

all the good stuff happens not on my server.
boo hoo.
but i'd be interested in checking out your site and seeing how hard this would be to implement on Chilastra and if I'd be willing to put in the time for the expected return in game fun-factor.
