Thread: Macros-do you use them?
I make a lot of use of aliases to ENHANCE a performance, save typing the same thing over and over (e.g. explaining to a newbie how to heal battle fatigue), etc. See guide on working with aliases in my history for reference.
I treat alias files for specific songs (for gigs) as an orchestral / dance score pretty much. To see what I mean visit the holosite in my signature and check out past gigs.
When performing live, I do not use macros. I prefer to start/stop/change when the mood suits me and I prefer to improvise frequently rather than spend twenty minutes doing a canned version of the same tune over and over. Not to mention that macros interfere with other activities like trading and training.
I've done the AFK macro thing once. I was very close to knowledge 4 so I parked in my house and looped a short macro all night to push across the skill threshold.
I use a macro when I am in the cantina, because I am on Lyrical and if the flourishes aren't timed correctly I look like I'm having a seizure because of the bugs in the dance.
But I NEVER go afk. Ever.
/dump takes care of that problem.

I use them but I must have 15-20 diferent versons, ranging from band flo macros to self macros, a special macro for buffing etc. There are some macros that are just slapped together and some where the person took the time to make it special. Timing out each flo and inserting lights at just the right time. No dancer would get on stage and just do whatever popped in their head. They have a full dance planned and ready to execute. So answer: yes I use macros, and I'm constantly changing and rewriting them. The whole time I'm usually talking to everyone, so this really does make it come off more professional. IMO hehe
