Thread: Top Five Profession Issues You'd Like Addressed

This thread will be a quick, 3-4 day poll.

The consensus on the top two is that they they are mission payouts (more generally, earning potential of the profession) and macro-botting.

If you were to choose three other items to bring to the devs about the entertaining profession, what would they be?

My choices:

  • Falling down - We hates it, my preciousssss. At least we need some way to mitigate it at the highest levels.

  • More music, dances, and instruments.

  • Master Entertainer - The rewards are unbalanced in that the musician rewards are so much more desirable than the ID and Dancer rewards that nearly all Master Entertainers are Musicians as their "primary profession".

I'm mentioning lack of entertainer content in a seperate part of the State of the Profession.

Okay ... that was 3. Let's please add entertainer mission payouts! Argh, they didn't even throw Entertainers/Dancers/Musicians a bone with this "major update". They need to do something that makes it where we don't HAVE to rely on the generosity of the audience. I don't know about everyone else, but tips are starting to shrink massively.

1. AFK

2. Missions are not fun (no different then when you aren't on a mission)

3. Missions don't pay (they should either pay well or be fun... havingboth would rock)

4. the 4 boxes of ID in Entertainer do not give many more options as you progress through them for most of the species... you can't even touch a mon cal for the first box.

5. ME's should have some pyrotechnics, and possibly be able to do them even when not performing.

For me the biggest issue is that I must advance dancing in order to play a Mandoviol. They should make it so that you either get Mandoviol at Musicianship 4, or as part of the musician proffession. I love playing music, I love the Mandoviol, but I hate dancing. For me this is the single biggest issue with the Entertainer skill tree.

Yeah, that Master Entertainer box needs something in it to apply to non-musicians. That's my biggest thing.

More songs/dances? Maybe. It would be cool, but not really necessary. What about more flourishes, or a new way to "chain flourishes" that effects XP gain?

Falling down. Eh, never really bothered me.

Mission payouts need to be increased, and duration of missions needs to be decreased. In my experience, dance missions cannot be done with high level dances unless you have a medic to stim you. You will run out of action. This is probably the same for high level instruments.

Oh yeah, I noticed that when surveying, there are "Survey Events" that try to make it more exciting. Can things like this be added to entertaining?

Please leave afk off of it. It will only end up biting everyone in the butt.

Instead simply give ATK tainers more NPC interaction and more content(fraction and nonfraction releated). Make being at the keyboard more worth it... And maybe there would be a few less afkers...

Anyways my list...

1. Missions

2. More Content(help make it entertaining as a game, instead of relying on us entertaining ourselves with other players as entertainment) BUT DON'T USE POP UPS!!!!

3. More commands... Dances, flourishes, songs, instruments, maybe a few more ID options have experimentation on intruments do something helpful.

4. Falling down.. when your a master Dancer you should NOT fall down any more.(not directly related to Ent. as a prof but sort of part of it.)

5. Registration at hotels, or smaller Cantinas(or any place with a stage...)

6. I don't want my Ommni to get moved by idiots clicking on it.

7. Make Bflo give the same xp to everyone doing bflos(instead of everyone having to hit their own flourishes at the same time to get xp)

8. Make group commands work... ? I would love to be able to turn split credits on for the group so any tip that comes in gets split among the group.(the option to do that woudl be nice wouldn't use it all the time of course.)

9. AFK... after 10 minutes of being afk you should get like a 20% reduction in xp gain... or a 50% , Any tips given to someone AFK should be split among the group. After 20 minutes any AFKers should be moved to the side rooms in the cantina.

How will it?

When I started dancing, there weren't really AFK entertainers. It was fun. Everyone had a blast entertaining. Cantinas were the place to be for entertainers and non entertainers alike.

What's changed between then and now? Lack of content yes, but not game content. Player content. Specifically lack of gray matter between the average entertainer's ears. (IE macro zombies) Seriously AFK entertainers ARE hurting the profession no matter how much people try and deny it.

leaving it unchecked is what's going to bite us in the butt.

But see I do have fun. and the afkers, except in rare cases, are something that I already have the tools to deal with in the game already.

I may have stated the leave it off wrongly.. my fear is that people think AFK=macro and that devs will think nerf macro= fix afk... something that would really suck.

But what is it that those of us that enjoy entertaining... what is it that lures us into going AFK... the long grind of Healing XP is a huge temptation for me to AFK while I'm off sleeping so that hopefully I'll have maybe gained 20k healing xp while I was sleeping(out of the 200k+ I still need for master dancer). What else... well I like to hit adventure planets... but I really do not like the thought that I can't register on Dath. So the only way anyone coming by will know I'm there is to shout it out every couple minutes.. I hate spam I don't want to do that... so do I just mindlessly sit there waiting for a blue dot to run past my radar so I can let them know I'm there... I can see why an AFK bot there can be useful.. it doesn't care if it takes an hour or two for someone to show up. It doesn't care that it cost 4k to get there from Theed(cause it's not likely to leave there any time soon). And people coming in at long last to get healed don't have to worry about when the ATK person will come back to heal thema and buff them(cause they ATK entertainer got bored sat down and went afk to watch the Family Guy)

And most of the other reasons I can think of for people that enjoy the class and the RPing of it and the social aspect of it can be "fixed" by adding content. Instead of nerfing something. I have a hard time thinking of what kind of changes can be done to "fix" afk for those people that don't like doing entertaining and are doing it as a "help".

If it is anything related to the use of the AFK tag they simply won't use the tag. If it checks for "keystrokes" that too can be faked. If it has to do with Pop up ads ? that will piss off who... ATK entertainers... which leads one to think the devs are going nerf marco=fix afk... which could be an extremly wrong thought on my part about how they are looking at it... but *shrugs* I don't see anything telling me other wise.

I have lost faith in the DEVs . My personal vote goes to take the two points you have ( Missions and AFK ) and hammer them home until fixed. I have no trust in the DEVs ability to deal with anything but simple straight forward requests one at a time until fixed. Keep communication simple until the DEVs learn to communicate.

Some boon to Master Entertainer for all the elite professions.

Possibly something generic like some minor form of Mind Damage healing? Restricted to camps and higher in the 'healing chain'.

I'd say for the 'top 3' in general.

1) Rewards/Incentive to go Master Entertainer.
2) Better choreography potential between performers (possibly some means to sync Musician Flourishes to Dancing Flourishes)
3) More -OPTIONS- for different performances at different stages. Same xp as other options that are given at that level, just something to help the Performing group 'dance' appropiately to the music. And get the music out of Starwars1.
