After the fifth time of five having the entertainer I was watching leave the moment he/she got my tip, I'm going to go back to waiting until I actually get the service rather than tipping the people I intend to watch the moment I walk into the tavern.

I've done the entertaining thing myself, and being a male musician tips were few and far between. Still, I see this as a worse problem than AFK entertainers. If someone walks in while you're performing and gives you 1k or 2k creds, don't just -immediately- stop and walk away. You're not obligated to buff them or give them half an hour of your time, but certainly it's poor manners to not even let them heal.

Yeah, I don't like people to tip me first, because after it turns out the buff is bugged I just have to give it back to them anyway... and I hate feeling obligated to play the same instrument that whole time... I like to switch around and move around the floor and stuff. I've stopped playing in the middle of a buff a lot, because there's a lot going on and you forget you're buffing someone.

But yeah, no reason to tip up front.
