/setperform [target]
If you have someone targeted then just type /setperform.
If you are using an omni or nal then put in their name as if you deselect the instrument when you do a flourish or the 10 second 'tick' you will stop playing.
NB:
No, you don't have to be grouped with them,
Yes, a dancer and musician can both /setperform on one person and they will get both buffs (once the TC patch hits live)

Make sure not to "/set perform"... So many entertainers lose their bios this way...

I've lost mine due to this so many times that I just stopped making a bio.

/setp deffinatly works, if you have to type the name if manaually I have also found you do not need to type in the whole name of for the preson to be recognised.
For example if I was to walk into the Cantina and you typed "/welcome Neei" you would probably gernerate the "Welcome Neeill Orkaorchi" mesage.
Some notes about this: The names seem to be case sensative for commands, i.e. "/welcome neeill" and "/welcome Neeill" are not the same. It could of course be I have just had bad typing days when I didn't follow the capitalisation of the names.
You must also make sure that you get enough letters of the name to ensure that you get the correct person, it works the same way as shortening commands, i.e. If Neill and Neeill are in 'range' and you type "/welcome Ne" you will be refering to Neeill as it is alphabetically prioritiesed over Neill.
Hopefully this all makes sense!

/setp will work
The command structure works on shortened commands as long as there is not another one that is alphabetically first in the command list.
The reason I normally give people full commands is that I've seen the issues when the shortened command no longer works as a new command is added, if the devs, hypothetically, added a speed control to mounts and called it /setpace then it would override the /setp for performers.
Probably just me being a bit paranoid, but, well, they are after me you know...

I've never seen /setp (or anything else) care about the capitalization of names. /setp fred and /setp Fred both work for Fred, Freddie, Freda and Freddsssk

If you want to see if you have enough letters for someone's name, you can try /examine.
(It was doing this I accidentally found a secret rebel mission terminal in Theed.)
