Well, with publish 12.1 live, I now have 37 skill points i didn't have before, since my politician boxes no longer require skill points.
I am a Master Pikeman/Ranger. I was thinking that maybe the ability to heal my own mind wounds and battle fatigue might be a valuable thing to have, so i was wondering how much entertainer i needed to be able to heal both mind wounds and battle fatigue of my own, as well as others in my group. i know that i can't heal battle fatigue in my Ranger camps, but that's a whole other discussion.
it would also be neat to pull out an instrument, and start playing some tunes while in line for a doctor's buff. i'd prefer specializing in music, and not dancing.
so, which boxes would you suggest i spend skill points on in order to heal myself and others when we're in empty cantinas in far away outposts?

Novice Entertainer is all you require. In the Entertainer profession, increases in your ability to perform mind wound healing and battle fatigue healing both come in the same "Entertainment Healing" (EH) branch, so that is all you would need to take. If you want to go beyond that level, you will need Music 4 and EH 4 to get Novice Musician, at which point wound healing and fatigue healing are separate branches.
37 skill points will get you EH 3 + Music 3 (33 pts) or EH 4 + Music 2 (34 pts). In practice, Music XP is a lot easier to come by than EHXP, since to get Music XP all you have to do is flourish your instrument, whereas to get EHXP you need to get people with mind wounds to listen to you.
Except in the worst cases of mind fire damage, healing mind wounds rarely takes long enough to have a decent conversation even with Novice Entertainer, so how far you want to level in EHXP is up to you. I would rather listen to a different song for longer, if it were me.

You can start healing Battle Fatigue and Mind wounds with just the Novice Entertainer box (15 skill points).
If you wanted to speed up the process a bit (the novice box heals pretty slowly) you could get the Entertainer Healing skill boxes (14 skill points total). At Ent Healing 4, there's a noticeable increase in healing. It still won't be near as fast as a Master Dancer or Musician, but it'll get the job done.
Then, if you wanted to be able to actually play more than one song, you could learn Music 1 and 2, so you could play starwars1, starwars2, and rock. (5 skill points).
15+14+5 = 34. You still have 3 skill points left over to do something with - maybe use 2 points for Dancing 1, and be able to cut a rug in your camps when the urge strikes you.
Or, you could forego the different songs and dances and just get Ent Healing 4, and have 8 skill points to play with.

Let's see here.
15 - Novice Entertainer
14 - Music 1-4
There's 29 points right there that will get you to where you can play Star Wars 1, 2, and 3, as well as Rock. You will be able to use a Slitherhorn, Fizzz, Fanfar, and Kloo Horn.
To get to novice musician, you'll need 14 more points for the ent heal tree in Entertainer as well as 6 for Novice Musician.
You can begin healing minds and BF at novice entertainer though, how long it takes depends on your ent heal level.

And the "Folk" song too, between SW2 and SW3. For 15-50k, you can buy clothing with bonuses to music and dance healing, max is +25. The prices are not too outrageous because the bonus is from BE tissues, not from SEAs.

I don't want a big hairy Wookiee following me around. I'd rather have a cute female
instead.

The BF healing will still be very slow until you get to novice dance/music. BF tapes are strongly recommended.

Good point about BE clothing. They're not too expensive, and you'll get a +25 boost to music and dance wound healing.

I can't quite figure out exactly what skills you have, since a Master Ranger/Master Pikeman only leaves 18 points leftover, not 37. But if you want to be able to heal mind wounds and fatigue, just take Novice Entertainer, unless you geta kick out of some of the songs or dances you can perform in the lower levels of the Entertainer tree. You won't have enough points to get to Novice Musician or Dancer, where you actually get points to heal Battle Fatigue. You heal fatigue as a Novice Entertainer, but you don't actually have points for it, so it's really slow. Faster than the heal-over-time of a Cantina, though. So there's no point in buying fatigue healing tapes. You would probably do well to get a shirt with +25 Wound Healing (Music) and (Dance), though. If you find a chef with the odd foods, you can get food for dance wound healing or drink with music wound healing, too.
