Thread: Dance vs Music buffs
As others stated there are more dancers, in fact I get far more tells asking for my service as a musician than Imaji does for dance. I've been told multiple times it is because master musician is much less common. I don't know if this is true or if most are duel masters and wear their dancer tag but the empirical evidence seems to be that master musicians are much rarer, at least on Corbantis.
And I do know quite a few people that only get Music buffs.

I suspect that a good part of the reason why there are more dancers is due to the fact that it is a lot easier to level as a dancer than as a musician for the following reasons:
- If you are dancing and get invited to an Entertainer Group, you don't stop performingbecause you are doing a different dance from everyone else. Musicians do stop performing if they are playing a different song... and then have that stupid forced wait before they can start up again.
- Dancer skill xp is based on the dance you do and you get at least 1 new dance at every level of (Entertainer) Dance and (Dancer) Knowledge. Music skill xp is based on the instrument that you play and at some levels, a musician only gets a new song and not a new instrument... and the only way that I have found to combat this reduced xp gain is to flourish more often.
Which, of course, uses up more action and doesn't sound as good as doing a routine with the flourishes timed and chosen with care. (Admittedly, Rock and Folk don't sound nearly as bad as some other songs in a mixed band with everyone flourishing differently.) - If you join a group and they are playing a song that is too high for you to play, you can't join the band... and not every band is willing to drop down to a song that you can play... or worse, all the other musicians in the group are afk and thus can't change the song to one that you can play. (I recently joined an Entertainer Group which had an afkMaster Musician in itthat was playing Virtuoso... go figure!)
Basically, with all the headaches involved in gaining music skills, I think that it is no wonder that so many more entertainers choose to go for dance instead... and having gotten Master Musician on 2 characters (and 4/3/4/4 Musician on my up and coming Rodian Entertaineron Intrepid) I have nothing but admiration for all of my fellow (live) Master Musicians.

Well if one would just go by the posting habits of the forums the Musician forum aren't as busy as the dancer forum. (although since 3 Professions use Entertainer you would think that forum would get a decent amount of traffic.)

I dunno... we may just be a bit chattier over in Dancer. Not to mention that a lot of Musicians come over to Dancer to hang out, thus adding to forum traffic.

You know, we should really repay them every so often by gracing them with our presence, eh Deila? I'm sure those dull Musician forums could use some fun once in a while. And we know the Dancers have plenty of fun to spare!

I'd love for dancers to come visit.
I plan on livening up the Musician forum with all the gossip and fun and what not that's consistently in the Dancer forum (all on topic of course
We're tons of fun, and if you don't believe me, you can see what it feels like to be smacked with a Nalargon!

Thosewere allimportant points but I would also just say that I knewnone of that when I first stepped into the cantina in my furry diaper pants and bright red pumps. What I did know is that in RL I can't carry a tune ina bucket and so didn't trust that I could create a song thatwouldn't put people's teeth on edge.
