thought most of these ideas ARE for musician.....
mostly with songs and song "structure"
with the way songs are now, there is only so much a person can do (although i am in the process of "writing" songs using /pausemusic a lot so that the song has more depth so different instruments are used at different times)
but one thing is missing.... atmosphere
anyone who has ever written (or listened very closely) to electronic music knows a little something about "pads" which are long, drawn out notes lasting for several seconds and just there for atmosphere, while a person's attention is on the quick-changing loops of the drums or synths (a good example for this is the atmospheric sound inside ID tents)
i would love to see instruments brought into play that only produced long-drawn out sounds or perhaps certain "modes" for existing instruments.... obviously a solo performer would not pick this, but someone part of an 8-piece band would definately add some spice to a song
buildups:
buildups are when a song breaks down, and slowly builds up, usually with a long drum roll
normally i hate buildups, but what's great is when the song breaks back in, there's usually something like a crash (as in a hihat crash) and it gives an extra bang to the effect
i would loce to see preset "notes" for the drumkits (bandfill and omni box) with kicks, snares, hihats, crashes etc. that can be hit at any time to add effect to a song...
falling on deaf ears:
one thing that's always bugged me that is missing from songs: vocals.
sure we can /sing /carol /rap and add some lyrics for people to read, but wouldn't it be great to get some vocals? what's the point of microphones if noone can sing to use them?
my idea for this goes something like this:
give dancers the ability to "sing" mostly there would be prerecorded vocal tracks that go along with dances or songs (not sure if the vocals should be dependent on the song, or give dancers the ability to sing solo without a backup band)
reminiscant of the party in jabba's palace or the diva's song in the 5th element, the vocals would be unintelligable words and notes and the dancer can then "/sing" in the lyrics
with more complex songs, entertainers could actually charge for performances where people come to listen, instead of just for healing or buffing
also it may be a bit of a stretch, but a "recorder" that could be crafted and replicated and sold to patrons who can play in their very own "radios" at home so they could listen to your live performances over and again just to listen to would be a rather interesting thought (perhaps on an autoloop to play in certain rooms of the house?)
an entertainer could make a name for him or herself and become "famous" CD sales could be threw the roof, sold out in all the major cities, while some people are still "trying to make it"
i just hope i see the day

forgot to add a skill i'd like to see.....
in addition to the instrument-specific bandflourish commands, i'd like to see some instrument-specific pausemusic commands..... that way one person could be a "conductor" with anyone if his or her normal band members aren't available
