Thread: An idea regarding theatres and hotels
I was sitting in the coro cantina today, and suddenly an idea popped into my head.
We always see packed cantinas in the major cities. But, personally, I've never had the pleasure of seeing an entertainer in the theatre or in any of the hotels around the NPC cities, which I know the entertainers can also use.
Why not make it more lucrative for entertainers to perform in hotels and theatres?
You could, for instance, add some bonuses when entertainers act in theatres, maybe 45 - 50% faster healing or temporary combat bonuses at the expense of maybe, an entrance fee of... say... 300 - 400 credits, of which 90% would go to the performers and the rest out of the economy. This would also help the general game economy by dumping some money.
Maybe you could do something along those lines in hotels too.
Of course, there'd have to be a restriction on how many entertainers could perform at the same time. Maybe 10 dancers and 15 musicians (in the theatre. It could be the other way around in hotels)
I'm not an entertainer, so there might be some complication I don't see, and this is just an idea off the top of my head... so be gentle!
What do you think?
Do you have any suggestions?

The only way I can think of to get around it is to basically get a group of ents to go somewhere else everyday, and spread the word to the combat folks. But I still can't see too many leaving the big cities.
Maybe the theatre could give a slight boost to health/action and hotel could give an even slighter bonus to mind (to make up for the power a high mind gives).
Cantinas could then give a fast healing rate.
Good idea in my book. I always wondered why the guild halls, hotels and other venues never had anyone in them.
My personal tactic to avoid the more crowded cantinas is to go to a place like Anchorhead. Sure I might not get the XP and tips but I get to help people who are after faction points.
One of the problems (as mentioned in other replies) is how to deal with people who will exploit bonuses from playing the 'off the beaten track' venues.
At least for now, on a player by player basis would be to set groups on your server to play the hotels and such. I know repetitive macros are a sore spot but setting a /yell or /planet announcement to state the venue would be an idea. I hate getting spammed every 5 seconds by some AFK fool so if I set up a macro to announce something I try to put a decent time on it (say every 90 seconds) so it's not screwing up legitimate conversations.
Till the Devs re-do Entertainers how does the player based groups at the off-strip venues sound?
