The CURB really shot me in the foot here. As a male entertainer, I never made much money off of it anyway, not when there's a twilek wearing next to nothing standing next to me. I didn't mind that. I always knew that when I hit Master Musician the buff I could give would be enough to get people to listen to me without causing them to question their own sexual orientation. Musician would eventually make me a little money.
But now it won't. As a Composer my buff is the same as anyone with enough SP for Novice Entertainer. Okay, I can live with that as well, except now we need to consider the other part, the COMBAT part of our wonderful Combat Upgrade.
See, I made my money mining. Not tons but enough to keep my houses going and to make the occasional purchase to enchance my gaming experience. Only now I can't go out into the field anymore because I will get my fine-looking backside handed to me by womp-rats on Tat. Yeah, those things I used to kill for 800 credits when I first started the game now walk all over me.
All that fancy armor I had? Gone, can't wear even the Malw stuff I bought my 2nd week playing. Those nice weapons that I could hit for over 1000 dmg on my specials? Gone, I'm back to CDEF and survival knifes and I'm lucky if I get a special for 75. Pre-CURB with doc buffs, my armor and gaffi stick I could clear out stuff on Dant if I needed to in order to work on my harvestors. Now I'm just totally boned if there happens to be anything near them and considering how there are hostile mobs EVERYWHERE now that is often the case.
And I can just forget about pulling out the ol' rifle and running a few 5k missions.
So I can't make my money mining. I can't make my money playing music. Rent's due and I'm sucking fumes for credits here guys. My guild leader has already lent me more money than I care to think about. I have to give it up, I just can't afford it anymore. I need two and a half boxes to finish mastering Marksman. I have to free up skill points and I'm not going to give up Scout (need the terrain negotiation and being able to harvest from animals is nice) and I need to have Artisan if I'm going to be mining again.
Musician is going bye-bye. As I get closer to mastering rifles I'll also have to start cutting into my Entertainer skills so I'll probably be saying bye-bye to that Master Entertainer title I worked so hard for. Really going to miss my guitar.
I just wanted my Master title to mean something butI can't even get enough of the now useless healer XP to finish my profession. But it all means nothing. I can do everything as a Novice Entertainer that I can do if I ever made Master anything. Same buff, same mission payouts.
Out on the plaines of Dant the other night doing my 62 dmg per hit to a mob with 10k hp while my friends kept me from dying, I started having flashbacks to all those days spend grinding away XP in the dungeon underneath Highkeep. Its not that I can't hack it in raids or PvP, its just that those things were not my reason for playing this game.
So I'm going to see how the end game is since I've never done it before. I'll buy JTL soon and see how the flight sim aspect is. If these things seem fun to me, great. One of my houses has been condemed again. I can't wait forchanges of alleged usefulness to be made at a date to be determined.
I'd like to be able to come back to profession someday. What would be really great is if you removed the SP cost altogether so I could keep what I love about this game and still be useful. Here's hoping.

Try grouping with guildies before you go to harvesters, you'll be elevated to their combat level.
Also, as master dancer/master musician, I have enough SP to also have novice carbineer. I chose that because I specifically wanted to wear padded, but you can choose novice of any combat and get to CL14. I know an armorsmith who makes me stuff, but if you don't you should be able to hire one to make you a "light" suit of armor that doesn't have encumbrances at novice [combat prof]. My 100dps carbine isn't enough to kick a lot of things' butts but it's enough to protect me from small things as well as enough to get me some exp in guild grinding groups (as well as some mission payouts).
It sucks to have to do non-ent things to make money right now, but they have promised to fix that. Honestly though, as an exclusively live non-bot entertainer (that had a 125/125 mind buffing suit even), I've had to make my guaranteed money for "bills" in areas other than entertaining for 2 years now.

another way to make some credits since yo uhave scout is to tag along in a dant group and rather than fighting . . . just runa around harvesting the critters. It actually helps out alot as it makes the dead critter poof so everyone else can see better
