Thread: TEF flags a remedy to AFK entertainers?

Do I dare even post this?

I know you're all sick of talking about AFKers... I am too. But until it's fixed It's going to naw on me every time I walk into my beloved cantina and see a fresh batch of scantilly clad AFKers doingformal all over the middle of the floor... so here goes.

hehe, ok I know what you're thinking..."What!?" But honestly, medics can get a TEF from healing overts, why shouldn't we? Here's how it could work...

Overt walks in clicks on you and you are sent a pop-up in red or whatever to either accept or decline healing the overt. So you physically need to accept this to continue. In most cantinas the majority of people you heal aren't overt so it won't be such a pain as say consenting to every single patron. Plus, I've always wondered how we managed to slip out on the whole TEF situation. Of course, overts will have to tip a bit more to get healed, since they are putting you on the line. I know many many entertainers don't wish to fight but if you had to consent than you basically would never have to.

Obviously the afkers wouldn't be there to make that decision so they couldn't continue macroing, or healinguntil a decision was made. I don't know how someone could get around this so maybe its possible to do that but I'm pretty sure you'd need a 3rd party program that actually uses your mouse to do so...which is definatly against EULA.

People would still be able to AFK, yes. At least they would have to do it somewhere privately. I guess I don't mind the cheating part half as much as them making the cantina look awful for the rest of us who are genuinly trying to put on a show. Heck, If they'd do it somewhere privately we'd never even know who AFKed their way to master and who didn't.

This is a thought I've been mulling over, it may have been mentioned before but I guess I missed it if it were.

Please respond, maybe this is just the start of a good idea

An interesting idea. I'm have a neutral dancer, so I cannot tell who is allied with what. But I don't see that many overt people coming into the cantina. So I see some benefit to this.

It won't stop all the AFKers. A neutral dancer could still be viewed by all coverts and neutrals. And an overt wouldn't have the option to target her (if the TEFs are done just like medics). It would definitely be a burr under the saddles of those wishing to be factioned with an entertainer and who want to AFK. It could cut down on the numbers, at least.

And it's useful not just from an AFK perspective. You get a TEF by assisting someone. Well, dancing for someone who is clearly affiliated pretty much shows your true colors.

The downside, of course, is that an overt character might never be healed in a cantina. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Perhaps not.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

A simple fix instead to AFK entertainers but also to other professions is not to allow exp once you are marked as AFK

That might also discourage all the lame PVPers who run around town with AFK above their heads

i'm not in favor of a TEF given for entertainer healing. we heal damage, not wounds.... and thats a big difference.

HOWEVER!

i would most certainly be in favor of an AFK entertainer getting a TEF to every other entertainer in a 100m radius i can't count how many times i'd love to put a blaster bolt in the back of someone i've seen AFK entertaining

let em figure out how to make a macro to walk back from the cloning center, says i

Thats a nice thought, but the main prob i see is how that would effect groups!

I like the idea of a popup for the AFKers, like what they did to the surveyors, where a random popup comes up and doesn't allow them to do flourishes!

And Dyvana, what are you talking about? we heal Mind wounds, Battle Fatigue, and buff the Mind stats too (if you know how)

I expect you to follow me around to every planet/city i goto. Your to goto the cantina and sit there until i come in to heal my BF. Then you heal me and go back to sitting and waiting for me to return. That's every single night until the server i'm on shuts down. I then expect you to login as soon as the server comes up and continue to wait for me.

Unless your willing to do that, SHUT UP about the AFK peeps.

darkace... don't mind my dsylexia my mind thinks clearly, but my fingers type it out ALL WRONG!

explor, we are not in the game to be your servants. if you don't want to deal with other people, then pick up novice entertainer so you can heal your own wounds- a lot of other people have.

JCS...your post is a little hateful but brings up a good point. If there weren't an afk person there some of us real performers would head out there and be there to heal you, talk to you, cheer you on etc. The reason we aren't now is we spend the time and money to get out there and find we aren't even needed because someone else parked there toon there and is afk macro-entertaining 24/7. I would love to visit these planets and heal you. Help me help you.
