Thread: Custom songs?
How hard would it be to put in an option for master musicians to play custom songs. Say you assign the F buttons to different notes using shifts and ctrl for the sharp and flat. With this fairly simple combination you could make songs from the real world, or custom mix your own imperial march.
I dunno.. it just seems it's hard to play "appropriate" music for different circumstances.. ie a wedding or if you wanted to play some blues at the campfire.
Is this even possible?
Well they wouldn't be liscensing out copywrited songs... whatever people play is what they play.
I just think there needs to be a bit more depth to the entertainer/musician levels, that's all.
The general concesus does seem to be that it is a copyright issue. I don't know anything about copyrights really, so I'll tell you why I think this is a bad idea. As a disclaimer I should state that I agree we need more freedom to be creative in the musician profession...
But not too much.
For every good song someone makes, there will be 10 terrible ones that you don't want to hear. The profession becomes player skill based and not character skill based, which is the opposite of how RPG style games are supposed to work.
i think that the devs could give us a little bit of free reign possibly by giving us the option to play songs in different keys. All you would need to do is choose wich song and wich key you would like to play it in for example b flat, E, and so on. With just 3 keys it would triple the variety because every song could be played differently.
Another idea i had was adapting the songs for different races. I highly doubt in a galaxy as vast as this that a human folk song is going to be the same as a twi'lek folk song is the same as a bothan folk song and so on. After all the songs being played arent really songs, theyare genres on music. Why not add a little bit of cultural flare.
