Thread: other AFK professions
Hopefully this will help bring subject of AFKers leveling up to the attention of all the fighter professions.
I was playing on Friday night when I got off of work and got an interestingsurprise. I was wandering around the starport when I "overheard" a group of about eightfighter type characters. They were complaining about how several of the local spots where mobs spawned were being camped by AFKers who were just killing the spawns for the XP. These AFKers of course were not even looting the corpses and since they killed them no one else could loot them andget the credits or items off of the spawns. These fighters were saying how horrible this was... how this should not be allowed... blah blah blah... I found this quite amusing and walked up and mentioned how entertainers have been complaining about this problem for a while. The fighters then asked how this was the same since these AFKers were obviously just grinding the profession for a holocron and did not really care about playing the game. I walked away from the situation laughing to myself as they continued their ranting about the AFKers. I guess Karma has finally struck.
I know that the devs made it so AFK sampling would be interupted by pop-up windows, so maybe if enough attention is brought to the devs attention by multiple professions something will finally be done about it for all the professions. My favorite option is the easiest one... remove the choice to show when you have gone AFK from the options screen so that when your chosen time (from 1 to 30 minutes) hits you are marked as AFK. Then once you are AFK you get...
NO XP for being AFK

I hate to tell you, but once I actually got the pets themselves CH is 100% macroable. Any of the basic combat professions are 100% macroable. Entertainers aren't alone in this. The one thing that does stand out is that 2 of their advanced professions are completely macroable, yes. That's a little odd in comparison.
I will say, as a holo dancer, that I am having a surprisingly good time. I am meeting a lot of people I would not have otherwise. I've been far more social lately than I've ever been in the game. I have a great amount of respect for anyone who plays an entertainer 24x7

This has my vote!!!!
Stand up Musicians and get in the fight!!!
Besides, some players like popular Weaponsmiths need the AFK tag to go up so they are not constantly deluged with tells. They put up the AFK tag with a message so people will not keep bothering htem while they try to do other things.
Personally, I don't like the thought of AFK entertainers, but I'd much rather have an AFK entertainer at an outpost than no entertainer at all...

I rather like this idea. Would perhaps be better if modified so that say, AFK players only get 1/2 or 1/4 of the normal exp. Entertainers sort of have the same incentive - they'll get booted from a group usually if they're afk and lose out on exp. But combat classes don't have the same incentive, and I've been forced to find other hunting grounds because a thug spawn was already camped by an AFK'er for 18 hours straight. Eliminating exp completely for afk entertainers though... it's not the players fault they've been asked to master musician/dancer/etc to unlock their jedi slot. And it's certainly not the most entertaining (no pun/irony intended) profession to master. I think we *should* be able to macro / afk through it... I just think it should take a lot longer than it would for someone who is really going to put their time into it.
Either way, good idea. I'll make sure I give my 2 cents somewhere where our correspondant will notice so it can be considered for recomendation to the devs.
crafting, is also 100% macroable, well, if it could be called that, what the guy i know does, is play in windowed mode, and have a program running in the background clicking everywhere, so essentially, he keeps crafting untill he has the xp he needs.
