"Instead of ruining the class for those who go AFK, we should all be encouraging SOE to MAKE THE FRIGGIN' CLASS MORE ENTERTAINING FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE ATK!!! Do that, and the AFK situation will fix itself."- read in the Musician forums by me.

More entertaining? They should?

Why aren't the ENTERTAINERS who are ATK trying to make it more entertaining?

I never needed to AFK during my working up the Musician tree all the way to Master - I entertained others. I played music, I did a bit of comedy here and there, I talked to them about their bad day out hunting, faction warring, and harvesting. I put a smile on their face or at least made their day a little more interesting or even better ENTERTAINED them.

When I say entertainers, I mean both dancers and musicians. This is OUR problem - a lot of people see us as only in the game to cure battle fatigue and cure mind wounds. On the contrary - WE help provide a lot of content!

WIthout Max Reebo and his band in Jabba's palace, would it have been the same place we all found so neat to watch? How about Figrin Dan and the Modal Nodes in Mos Eisley Cantina? What about Oola the Twilek dancing girl?

Putting up a AFK flag and then adding "psuedo-interactive" chat with /greet and other stuff like that is terrible to the atmosphere. WE help make atmosphere in the cantinas, theaters, and yes even hotels.

If there is any place we as a classin SWG should utterly rule in, it is not PVP - it is SOCIAL INTERACTION. We're the jetsetters, the slick guys and girls who wander into the party and fit in anywhere because we're just that cool. We are the ones who should have the entry choked friends list from past customers and people we've met. Our little black book, as it were.

Get out there and give them a real SHOW, people! C'mon, it's your class job!

/assist musicians and dancers

And to those who do:

Ok let me rephrase. Make the class more REWARDING maybe? That sound better? The thing is, there are not always people around to entertain, and yet, if you are in a smaller cantina, to move to a bigger cantina is to abandon the people who were in that area and depended on you for healing and entertainment. You can't tell me it doesn't get dull just sitting in there when no one is there. Which happens, and often.

You can't tell me there aren't many many dancers/musicians what have you with either a secondary combat tree or even a whole other character to make money for them because it can be very difficult to make a living as an entertainer. Sure if you are a sexy little twilek/human thing who adores flirting you can do great, but what if you are male? Or rodian? Or just not that dang flirtatious? I think being an entertainer is a hoot but I just do not get tipped much at all. I made more in one day for slicing one weapon for a customer then I'd made in the previous 3 days from tips. I am usually in a cantina run by my guild, in our private city. I talk, I chat, I smile. Maybe the problem is that I'm tipped more often then not by non guild members. To make money, I am forced to hunt on the weekends in big group hunts on the big planets. Why do I need money? To pay for my house, which frankly is mainly there for storage and so that I can declare residency in the city.

The thing is, I do not feel like a fully contributing member of the guild as an entertainer, as I cannot support myself in any way. To me this detracts from my fun. And I am one of those cute female entertainers, and I entertain my little heart out, yes I do. I do not like to flirt a lot. I don't like having total strangers make lascivious comments at me. That doesn't mean that I do not ENJOY the heck out of dancing and out of being friendly and entertaining people, but to me the line is drawn there. I dont' do /kiss, or any of that, to be polite if someone is frisky i'll do a /blush, if they keep it up I'll have to say "Hey mister, hands to yourself", if they don't get the message i'll duel them. Sure I die, but hopefully I made a strong point about my feelings about being slobbered over by people I don't know. I'm not a hooker, I'm not a stripper, I'm a dancer ,and a **edit** good one.

To me, yes I enjoy being tipped, but to me it doesn't feel right for that to be the sole way for an entertainer to be paid, and right now entertainer missions are just a pathetic joke. In real life there would be some kind of steady wage in place besides tips for a performer, unless you were a street performer, but we're not street performers, we work regularly in a cantina.

To me this is a gameplay issue and as such is something that needs to be addressed by the developers.
