Thread: Charging fo training?
I play on the Intrepid server in Talus..and it's pretty quiite so far and tips seem to be few.
So I just made it to music 3 and halfway to healing 2 and it's getting a litlte costly to train, and no one else to learn from. So what about the idea to charge for training to supplement income a little.
Good or bad idea?, And if good what's a good fee to charge
there is a group of us in Mos Eisley on Ahazi and what we do is pool our money to pay for one person to train the skill then have them teach the rest of us.
I don't agree with charging to teach a skill because when you teach you are already getting a reward that is better than money, Apprentice exp. just my opinion though. find other musicians and take up a collection.
May want to move to a more populated area, or simpley tell the people that you need money for training to better heal then. That's what I do...and let others in the group know that you appreciate tips if you train them

I just ask for a donation to help me learn a new art and then pass it down back to you at a lower cost. I like the pool Idea. One thing bugs me is when people feel that they diserive to be taught. I mean when I save up 3000 credits for a skill level and Joe Blow thinks he should get it for free because I have it, is kind of insluting to me. That and if someone donates me 1 cerdit is also like a spitting in my face and not respecting the hard work I did to save credits.
When someone in my cantina needs training, I usually donate about half of what it costs to them because I know I will need it sooner or later. I seem to have more money than most of my fellow dancers and I don't mind giving them some cash for training.
But messenger missions are also really helpful when it comes to quick cash.
I charge for training with other Entertainers on Rori on Starsider. I don't plan on ever making it to any Master profession so the Apprenticeship XP is useless to me. But, I did run around for hours doing local fedex missions to learn the skills from the NPC.
Therefore, I do want a little bit of a return on my investment. So I charge 10% of the NPC trainer fee, and everyone so far has been happy to pay it. If someone doesn't feel that I should be paid for my knowledge, then I have absolutely no problem with them seeking someone else to train them. I can respect that.
