Usually I don't go around making female characters, but does anyone think that male dancers are going to get nearly as much business as the female ones? heh

i seem to recall the last day there was a group tip split command being implemented..

male dancers look fine at the higher levels..

I figured if he's gonna dance might as well play him as a flamer.. it is RPG after all.

No really ... was a dancer all of Beta 3 and some of Beta 2.

Two problems with being a male dancer.

First, many of the flourishes (and entire dance lines) are very VERY feminine. Lots of complaints from male dancers on this.

Second, since the player population is mostly male, they tend to gravitate toward the female toons and tip accordingly. This is aggrivated by the fact there is no group tip split command. Gets hard for a male to compete with a female dancer in an "exotic flesh wrap"

Group autosplit does not work for entertainer groups. And in beta, the entertainers begged NOT to have a group tip method. Why? Because 90% of the entertainers are afk most of the time yet its the ones who talk to the players and chat with the players who earn the tips. So, with an autosplit, those afk players would get the tips of the other entertainers.

I can see the point of such a thing ONLY if the players are told in a small message that they will tip all members, even afk ones. This way, they can choose if its something they want to do.

So you type, /tipband amount and you see a message that says, "Some of the entertainers might be afk. Do you still wish to group tip?" I know many players who refuse to tip afk entertainers.

Its less now because if you are afk, you don't get flourishes, which means you get no xp for dance or music unless you have a macro running. In beta, some had macros that went for hours and hours, and the music folks were the worst, because others could not join their group, could not play the song with them in some cases, and could not coordinate flourishes.

Frustrations with changes to the musicians are one reason you do not see nearly as many in the game as we did in beta.

Agreed Cae. Going AFK for hours was one of the most annoying things in Beta! I'm glad they changed the /bandflourishes to only give XP to the one who invokes the command. Yes, where did you end up playing?

How about working with a girl to work out routines and such. You can do a lot with changing direction and the basic flourishes. Just arrange to split the tips.

I found it humerous that the normal /dance command on a male character is highly remenisant of the "Spider-man - I'm So Gay" shockwave that was floating around a year or two ago. in fact the first time i saw a male use /dance i couldn't stop laughing. ahhhh good times....

Have you seen the pop-n-lock dance? It looks better when a male is doing it than a female. The low end dances are femenine true, but he higher end have some great moves for guys.
