Thread: Entertainers in the Field
Are entertainers common in groups out hunting?
It seems like they would be needed, because they are the only good way to heal mind wounds/battle fatigue, without having to go all the way back to town and sit in the cantina.
I'm planning on playing a doctor, and i'm wondering how when i'm out hunting in a group, I will get my battle fatigue / mind wounds healed if there is no entertainer. Would I have to go back to town? That would seem to disrupt the group a bit if we are far away hunting.
Entertainers are not at all common in hunting groups. If they are in a group, it is usually because they have a good friend (often in real life) who plays a combat role and was able to beg them to let them come along.
For entertainers in a combat group, sure you are there to heal mind wounds, but there's something else thats more important: do not take damage, do not get incapped, do not die, and do not cause any downtime for the group. Nothing is more aggravating than bringing along a Master Musician and end up having him use his Novice Marksman skills to get himself in all sorts of trouble that an experienced combatant would never have done.
I would enjoy seeing more Entertainers out in the field, however not unless they can behave appropriately when things get hairy. Know your profession! ![]()

Lots of **edit** of it really really fast. And don't expect forcing a novice musician to play SW1 to be very happy about it.

You must be a magic entertainer. that's something that no one could do even in the beta! Camps don't allow the healing of BF, only mind wounds. Unless they changed that over this weekend and forgot to tell us about it ;-)

I beg to differ on BF, I tried it this afternoon in a camp, it did indeed heal BF
In the beta, I was an entertainer in the field. I 'lived' on Endor for a few weeks. I would go out in a hunting party, gain some EXP, then when we came back to the base, I would run to the cantina and heal everyone's BF. I had tons of fun going along with hunting parties. Hehe, I even became Master Marksman in three days while fighting in the field.
Right now, I'm trying to save up money to go to Endor. I hope the people who go there are as friendly as the people in the Beta. ![]()
Entertainers do have a place in combat, the problem is, few people realize that.
I plan on being a Master Dancer. However, to make myself more appealing to groups, I also have carbine skills and medic skills. What combat groups don't seem to want, is a player who only contributes to the group for 5 minutes or so out of every 30+ minutes spent hunting.
Basically, my skills are set up for me to be a "Combat Dancer". I can help kick butt in the field, and then help heal (health, action and mind, wounds and damage) afterwards. As word of my skills gets around, I'm being included in more and more groups. Yes, this means my dancing progresses slower than the dancers who stay in the cantina all day, but I'm having a whole lotta fun creating a new breed of dancer!
