I posted this on the main boards but it will of course fall to page 27 without being seen by many so reposting here in our little neck of the woods...

In order to avoid being spammed to the point of not being able to communicate in the cantina I have turned off system messages. This works great, but there is one problem. Tip messages are system messages and so aren't written to the chat window, they just flash quickly on screen. As a proffessional entertainer I want to properly thank my appreciative fans, but currently I am missing the vast majority of the tip messages.

Any other fellow entertainers feel it would be nice to be able to filter all the skill messages and still see who is tipping you? Speak up and perhaps someone will grant this small wish.

This would be a nice enhancement.

However, there are other methods. You can create a new chat window and send system messages (exclusively) to it. That way you can leave spatial open to regular chat messages.

The other thing is something I prefer: Go to Ctrl-O and click on the Chat Colors tab. Type 'tips you' in the text box near the bottom of the window and push the 'Add Sentence Colorization' button below the text box. Then select 'tips you' from the Sentence Colorization window and change it's color to something very bright and noticeable. Do the same for part of the sentence for bank tips (can't remember the phrase I'm using off the top of my head).

What this does is everytime a sentence or message is produced that contains the words 'tips you', it colorizes it according to what you set in the Chat Colors window. Very handy for highlighting certain messages.

Thanks for that tip, heh no pun intended, this will help me in showing my appreciation to those who show theirs to me in game.

I use the 2nd window option. I have them side-by-side. Into the left goes all chat and into the right goes all messages (combat, system, and a duplicate of tells). I find that I never miss anything this way as the right box never really gets spammed unless I'm crafting or in combat. It's great for confirming tips, and also for /tells you may have missed in the normal chat box, hehe.

I keep saying that tips need to make a Cha-Ching sound!

Love these posts - the spamming was driving me nuts but couldn't figure out how to fix it. Will try it tonight. Took me two days to figure out how to resize my chat window Actually I started out as an artisan but I've found entertaining so much fun that I'm doing it almost exclusively now - actually thought at one time I'd go for droid engineer - now I'm going to be lucky if I make it to chef or tailor Have decided to concentrate on stuff related to entertaining.

i think tips should be a public evernt they would not only increase tip awareness with new players but also clear up the how much should i tip questions
