So now that I've returned to the game after two years, I decided to give entertainer a spin again, after getting my Bounty Hunter set up. I decided to pick a more populated server, because it seemed like there would be more people to entertain. I started out in Mos Eisley on Eclipse to see how it would go. No real success there, always 5 or 6 AFK entertainers, myself, and the occasional patron. The patron's are never really in the mood of tipping, as they're used to the AFK people. I decided I'd go to a bigger city with more people that would most likely have more money, so I gave Theed a shot. I go to the Cantina, and much to my despair I find 10 AFK entertainers, one or two people ATK, and myself. The patrons are even more sparse than they were on Mos Eisley.
So my questions to you guys are:
What's a good server to be an Entertainer on?
Where's a good place to Entertain, so that there are actually tipping patrons?
Am I without hope being a poor ATK entertainer?

I'm not an entertainer, never was one and will never be one.
I'm a combat char on one toon and on the other I am a crafter.
Come to Chimaera, is all I will say.
Don't be disheartened. Things have allways been hard for the Entertainer community, and will continue to be. But things somewhere will soon start to look up.
Chimaera is one of the few servers where the Live Entertainer community is still alive, it is all but dead on most servers. And by that I mean sizeable number of live Entertainers.
GL where ever you go and remember - you are special.

Keep in mind that it will also vary by time. On my server, I find more people visit the cantina later at night (after 10pm EST). Unfortunately AFK has grown and it's tough to find a spot not filled to the brim. Also find out about the "grind spots" on the server you choose. For some it may be the Dant MO, or Kashyyyk, or a player city on Naboo. Also, try to hang in there even if there are lots of AFK and very few tips. Sometimes (not always but sometimes) if you can become a familiar sight at set times then you might have better luck drawing a crowd of regulars.
Best of luck for you. It's a tough road and as much as I'd like to I can't offer that it will get better or easier.

yeah... I was entertainer first half year of this game, before the afk bots went into full swing. It was so discusting is really all I can call it. I've tried to go back over and over, but I just can't put the time into it when there is no one to talk to. Now that I have an alt I'm trying again... maybe since it'll be more part time I'll be able to deal with it, it is just dissapointing how useless we are now. (My other main profession is smuggler, I sure can pick em huh?)

I'm not an entertainer, but to me the biggest thing is interaction from an entertainer. I'm not talking about a smile or a wave, that can be macro'd with ease. When I walk into a cantina looking for an experience buff, if an entertainer is ATK, and is obvious about it, welcoming me, making a comment on my wardrobe or the weapon I'm holding, that lets me know that they are ATK, even if they are novice and it takes longer to get the buff, I'll watch them, and then tip them for being there. Strike up a conversation with people, even if they start watching the AFK master buff bot, in time they will remember you, and come to you because you are there =)
